That was awesome, Larry! Thank you! I guess some people think we are strange that we get excited looking at worm poop and wrigglers. They should try it some time.

Any recommendations for purchasing African night crawlers? I live in New Jersey. Will be raising them in my basement. 10 gallon bins. How many worms should I start each bin with? Thanks for all your information.

Black Gold! Looks like you have a yard and a half there? How much did you pay for it if you don't mind me asking. Bagged castings aren't cheap so Bulk like you got would be cheaper but still not inexpensive.

Hi Larry, thank for the video. So.. the commercial flow is bedding, like peat moss with topping it with some kind of worm chow? So the final outcome is mainly peat moss with some worm casting?

Do they blend or mash the food before feeding it to the worms? If so, what does a large worm farm like theirs use for that task?
@greattexasfishing10 жыл бұрын
Hi Larry, Can't seem to get an answer on your Facebook page. Please reply here to question. In preparing a Walmart grow bag, how much worm casting to use and how to apply it. Is this in addition to your recommended Lime, Epsom salt and 10-10-10 fertilizer? Thanks John Tatman

They use peat! Also composted manures will work but peat is so much easier to work with! If you want to try raising worms I have them! www.growbaggardensystems.com/
@larrylhall10 жыл бұрын
No! These are not garden worms! Commercial growers use peat!
@aceshigh2353 жыл бұрын
Most commercial operations do not use peat. Nor do they use cotton husks anymore. Peat has caused some massive population crashes at some of the commercial facilities and has a high cost. And cotton husk is now all GMO and your stock worms will become infertile within 6 months. And yes GMO foods effect fertility of most organisms that consume them and that of the soil. And some herbicides can persist in low temp composting such as worms and negatively impact your plants.

the endproduct seems to be very homogenous - high risk of having it blown away by the wind after applying it to the soil, or? and i know that´s a major problem in the states: desertification due to applying fertilizers and getting rid of natural wind-stoppers like bushes and trees. even in germany they are losing soil. terrible!
@centpushups7 жыл бұрын
You could just put wood chips on it. Will keep the soil there and retains water, by reducing evaporation by a huge amounts.
