The ways things are now, it's a completely deluded hardcore fanboy thing to wish for a direct continuation of MM or MMX. What the series needs to do well in the current era, rather than offering a miserable "indie like" fan service to old fanboys, is a total series reboot. The series is from a very simple and early time in gaming, based on standards that since the late 90s already started becoming questionable, since everything was quickly evolving. Many veteran franchises are also from the late 80s but they evolved and didn't keep a retro form. It became harder to justify the original barebones formula of MM in modern projects. But then the thing is that the old games have the good ideas ready: in plot, cast, stages, weapons, robots. With a creativity level never matched by later games that only became repetitive and uncreative. Not that everything early was great and everything later was bad but there's a decent difference of creativity level anyway. So just reboot everything with a modern style of storytelling and world building (that didn't exist in early 90s platformers) and add even things that literally weren't possible like 3d cutscenes, and more content.

Kind of how RE1 did with Chris and Jill where the adventure of the mansion incident is canon but no one knows exactly who did what and what scenarios were canon.

The truth is that MegaMan has nothing to offer in modern game landscape. Nowadays it's barely worthy the label of indie game. Even to survive as a mobile game it's hard. There are many MM copies that completely outdo it, because it has a very raw and rudimentary formula based on the game standards of the 80s. MM would need to be rebooted with more content like some modern platformers.

Here one, xyz seems like megaman missed. Zx was where the megaman original didn’t seem to be. Megaman x body was used, but megaman zero was used for zero replacement when things got bad with cyber elf. Not many reploid production places survived. So giving zero a replacement similar to megaman and/or x with red colors was the only option to significantly reference his 2 older red guys who had worked with megaman and x with a new personality, but was chosen to replace zero lost body from dr Weil sudden capture of his body.

It could just be me, but, at face value, I cannot really tell the difference between the Legends 1 and Legends 2 armor designs, I'll have to compare the two on my own time, but Volnutt is still my second favorite Mega Man design (first being X). As for the Legacy Collections, I've gotten copies of all of them on console (except for Classic Legacy Collection, which is on PC), and I've yet to get the Battle Network Legacy Collection, as I've been interested in trying out the Battle Network games (same with the Zero and ZX games, but, I've been putting those on the backburner for far too long)

That was a civil war time period, compared to the wartime x had. No one was a known good leader during zero or zx because x had been forced to sacrifice his body to stop the mother elf corruption. Not many leaders knew the situation but only those who worked with x, zero, or axl knew the true situation.

The new 35th Anniversary Artwork looks great but I do feel sorry for ZX fans getting shafted, I never played those games, in fact I feel responsible for the Zero/ZX collection not selling well because I didn’t pick it up when it initially released but looking back now I wanna play them and perhaps become a fan of those games, I picked up the X Legacy Collection day 1 and became an X7 appreciator which brings me to my next point, X7’s 20th Anniversary is coming up and I’m very happy that Axl is getting a Figurine, (even if I don’t have the money for it) it’s also cool to see more X Armors get some love too.

I just ordered both kotobukiya X and Zero so i can have Axl next year and have the full team. I just hope this anniversary means more than just figures, finally seeing X9, legends 3 or at least a legacy collection of the series with the hope of legends 3 possibly happening. If X9 someday really happened i would preffer it if the character design was on that 25th anniversary of the series team, that was badass. An ultimate armor kit dosn't soun bad at all. If i ever wanted a new model kit that is not X, an armor or a color variant, it would be Psycho Sigma from X5.

BN Collection doing the best isn't surprising. It's been marketed well, and is the most casually attractive set of games with hours of things to do. I honestly think if we are to get a new game for the other reps, they need to modernize the crap outta them. 16-18 stage platformers that finish in 5-8 hours doesn't cut it anymore. X and Zero style games for example need full on 3D action games kinda similar to say, DMC.

The truth is that both MM and MMX aren't series so consistently good that they deserve to be completely remade. It's too many games. And I'm an old school fan in my 30s who mostly sees old school MM fans only speaking good of some games. Maybe they only truly love half of the whole MM+MMX series, or less than half. The problem is that mainly MM was heavily exploited in the early years, in a way that many games came out with bad, uncreative, repetitive ideas of either bosses, weapons, stages, etc. And some good ideas were trapped in overall mediocre games. The longer the series go the harder it is to keep the same creativity of the first games. MMX also has this problem but much less than MM. So the ideal way to me is to reboot the series completely and only make games using the best and more creative ideas of bosses, weapons, stage designs, etc. Including in this sample M&B content, gameboy exclusive content, etc. From a cold and unbiased analysis, if we filter the content of all main games + M&B + gb games and take only the very good ideas, there's content to make about 6-7 MM games.

While a StarForce Legacy Collection would be nice, my question is would it be just one or split into two? Two seems to be consistent in how they present/split it, but StarForce had 3 versions of SF1, 3 versions of SF2 and only 2 versions of SF3, so it would be easier to have all 8 on one collection. Also, yes, there are 3 versions of SF2: Zerker, Saurian & Ninja. Even though both games were Zerker/Saurian and Zerker/Ninja.

The best "test idea" at this point is remake or reboot the classic MM series or the MMX series. Because the fact MMX is meaningless to anyone but old school players - who in fact, despite saying all these things (this comment section overall) in the internet, deep down are skeptic about future projects unless it's a full retro game, because actually they dislike a good part of MM and MMX games. In deeper and more personal talks (not over this type of video) when they speak their minds, is when they say those things. So these are the true feelings of the community. Then it's easy to see why the series is in its current shape. MM has little to do to anyone who isn't an old gamer who grew with it, because it's too raw and basic in content, it's a too 80s action game. And the old schools fans, the only ones with an attachment for this ancient series, are that way... The focus should be on making new fans. And naturally for that goal it's better to start a new thing than continue a story from literally decades ago and that only matter to MMX lore nerds... or in this case a reboot/remake. Actually it would be interesting to see MMX retold with modern storytelling tools like expanded cutscenes and dialogue, 3d cutscenes, pictures, expanded world building, etc. Those standards didn't exist in the early 90s action game world.

@@carlosaugusto9821 You realize you basically described the PSP game Megaman Maverick Hunter X in your seeming fixation on a reboot/remake, right? That game is literally 'classic Megaman X with improved storytelling' that gave many of the Mavericks more of a personality and little quirks. Chill Penguin's a willing conspirator, Storm Eagle's a Hunter being forced to help Sigma, Flame Mammoth's a power-hungry nutjob and so on in that. If you want to learn more, and have a Vita/PSTV, I recommend checking the game out. Also, correct me if i'm wrong, but on the phrasing of your words, you make it sound like Megaman fans hate the franchise they're fans of. Yet also... I have to break it to you, but if you blindly commit to just bringing in new fans, you risk alienating the loyal ones. I specifically spoke in regards to Megaman X, because the X series has always gravitated towards darker stories. Classic Megaman be it new games or a full-on reboot/remake (which they attempted with the Megaman Powered Up series) tends to focus on simpler adventures featuring Mega stopping Dr. Wily's myriad schemes for taking over the world. Megaman 11 is probably closest also to what you're meaning in a different sense, because while still an '80's action game', it also carried new tricks for Mega in the Double Gear System and even gave some backstory to the whole feud between Light and Wily. So i'll give you this; Capcom does need to bring in new fans, yes... But they have ways to do that with the X series at least. They can Remaster the PSP game Megaman Maverick Hunter X if they're willing to borrow resources from the Megaman X Gacha that's seemingly dead... a possible MHX2 could happen if they take elements of Megaman Xtreme 1 and work them in on top of the x-Kai character coming back as a recurring villain... But I think they have options on both continuing the existing stories they have as well as 'remaking' the series as you said.

Highly doubtful that Capcom can experiment anything in MM, knowing what happened every single time in the past. And the series is in a very bad shape for experiments. Times are very different now. Besides the fact that not all new ideas were truly well done, the MM community is extremely hostile to new ideas. Most fans have basically a retro mindset. I'm actually an old school fan open to a 3d experiment, even if i find X7 bad. That was the past, and it's possible to make something good now. But i know it's impossible. And many fans are against that.

Capcom has been on a roll and has gotten up from their Dark Ages not that long ago for several IPs. They can just as easily do Megaman again, and simply do it right. X7 wasn't bad because 3d doesnt work, but because the 3d has was done horribly, and it was done in an early time.
