Mega Man X7 is the worst game of the franchise. At least that is what many who have played this game once said. Because of that, I decided to dive into this PS2 game and see what the trouble is really all about with this Mega Man X game. I mean, it can't be that bad, right?... Right?

Fun fact about X's English VA in this game, he actually ended up voicing Grey in ZX Advent, in which he gives honestly the best performance of that game's cheesy English cast. I actually like his voice in that game a lot, which makes it so much funnier to know just how bad he was as X in this game. He must've improved a lot in the few years between those games, huh?

@@Brianycus Yeah! He's still around, too. In fact, ever since Konami got the rights to the Bomberman series, he's been voicing the character in all of the games they've made since. So he went from voicing one iconic robot character in gaming history to another!

You'd think in a MEGA MAN X game in the MEGA MAN franchise X would be the main character, but nah we got Zero and Axl. I love Zero but between him getting his own spin off series and him getting pushed more and more in the spotlight in the X franchise you can really just notice Inafune's bias.

Zero in X7 feels like you're playing Brawl Ganondorf. X and Axl do have ranged options, but Zero? His sluggish frame data means you can't do any of the flashy combo stuff Zero did in X4-6, and his lack of range ensures that Zero will be forced into unnecessary danger just to use his saber.

Zero needed to be like Dante if we were having a 3D Mega Man game because his combo game was just that in the 2D ones. His arsenal in X4 and X5 alone proves that and I hate Capcom didn't take that into consideration.

Before I played Mega Man X7 I made it a point to play through each of the X games in order. I played from X1 through X6. By the time I was done with X6 I was almost afraid to start X7 because I had heard about how bad it was and I was afraid that it would frustrate me to the point that I would quit it. I ended up playing through X7 by leveling up Zero and then spamming his special attacks in order to get me past bosses. Once I unlocked X, I was able to get his armor and I continued to play through the game until I leveled him up - and then leveled up Axl. I played through Mega Man X7 more than 10 times in a row, and each time I played it got easier simply because I had memorized the game and knew where all the items were, as well as how to easily beat all of the enemies. Of all of the Mega Man games X7 and X8 are the ones that I played the most simply because I needed to level up the characters and get their hidden items. I give the game a C- . It may be the worst of the series, but it’s definitely not the worst game ever made. My biggest problem is the frustration dealing with Red and dealing with Sigma's final form at the end of the game. Instant death pits with no easy continue or definitely a nuisance in a game like this. Had they left 4 energy tanks in these games as a standard, I'd be less disappointed.

Once you level Zero's special attack up and defeat Tornado Tonion, he's almost unstoppable. Raijinshou can be used to spam all the bosses - including Red. Axl requires the EXPLOSION Grenade Launcher to give him the edge he needs.

I never thought I’d find myself defending Megaman X7, but in retrospect, I would have to say that X6 was worse than Megaman X7. When you really think about it, they had gone from making a nearly perfect game in X4 to making a lackluster quality game in X5. Then they followed up with X6, which was so broken until you had to wonder if they really even cared about the project. I think what happens is that these game developers take the game reviews personally when people claim that the new Mega Man games didn’t offer anything new, and that forces them to go in an all new direction. Mega Man X7 was "all new". They brought you a new character in Axl and they brought you a new gameplay style in 3-D. Better that they tried and failed with “all new” in X7 than to bring you something remade that they should have gotten right in X6 - but didn’t. I personally feel that some of the best Mega Man games I’ve played aside from the original NES games were ZX, and ZX Advent.

The biggest problem with Megaman X7 is really its camera angles. If they had understood early on about how to make camera angles work better with dual analog sticks then maybe it wouldn’t have been so bad. The other issue is the enemy hit points are too high. It’s one thing to be bad, but it’s another thing to be bad and be long because you wanna make me get into long drawn out fights with enemies who have four and five times as much health as I do.

For me, this game is a sort of guilty pleasure, like Mega Man 2 on the gameboy. It's tough on the first playthrough, but new game plus is where most of the fun is, with X and all the upgrades you unlocked being useable from the start.

When I played the X collection I was determined to finish them all. This is easily the worst game I have ever finished. And I've finished Sonic 06. Thankfully I had X8 after this which was much more enjoyable. Great video.

I beat this game in may this year, and it isn't as bad as people say even though there are flaws in it. This game didn't pissed me as much as X5, X6, and X8. It was for me the easiest X game after X2. It has one of the best sound track in the series.

While true, that was an era where games were starting to get their feet into the market and was like a brand new thing. In the 2000s, gaming was picking up steam and some franchises had a large reputation in their name, and the X series was one of those. X7 really screwed the franchise over.

I first played X7 back in 2015 and never beat it. Not like Mega Man & Bass where it was brutally difficult, but because I found it a dreadful experience that I regretted. Though last year, I picked up LC2 and beat the whole game (though not without the Rookie Hunter Mode to give myself unlimited lives and skip the wack, drawn-out death animations) and beat it within an all-nighter the night before I had an early-morning final exam for one of my college courses. I didn't feel satisfied when I beat it unlike the others (even X6 pre-Tweaks mod, I felt satisfied beating it back in '15): I felt like none of that mattered.

Megaman X7 made me rage quit don't know how my sister managed to sit through it and finish it herself. After that I was pretty much just done with Megaman as a series and it's also my sister that finished X8 lmao. At this point I just want a Megaman Legends 3, a proper one. Also seeing X7 for the first time back in 2003 I think made me actually want to buy a PS2, yeah I got my mom to buy me one as a birthday gift and that as one of my first games and like I said, I raged quit and my sister finished it instead a few years later when she was a lot older and could actually understand mechanics and such.

First review i watchn is X7😅 First off good review very well done I agree with everything you said pretty much The gane if giving love had potentially to be awesome junp into 3d and i always thought zero could of had some dmc mechanic idk why they didnt time maybe? Lazy who knows Im going to throw some postives why not lol not defending the game just bright side I like the artwork in the 2d cutscene wish they did in x8 its like a nice comic the Glide armor looks really cool design wise prob my favorite looking one X buster is freaking huge as a kid and now still think thats awesome music is a banger lazy mind code crush amazing and our blood boils prob one of my fav sigma themes they fixed Axl alot in X8 however x7 has one thing i like when he uses a weapon they have a 2nd effect useing triangle x8 just has the qeapon small change but i like makeing him more unique and i like the cell shade they went for i think it holds up still just your right all the animation just makes it look awful maybe a remake fan thing could fix that cuz model wise looks nice imo One more thing yeah they made zero eh but he has a broken move that does alot to bossee the tornado move every boss seems to be weak to it and his sheild move does a lot to sigma 2 Not much but hey its some postivies cant wait to watch rest your reviews awesome job!
