This is still, in my personal opinion, the most powerful finale of the entire Mega Man series. There was no compromise here; Zero _had_ to win this fight, but in doing so, sacrificed himself to save not just the settlement in 4 I forget the name of, but the entire world from the devastation Ragnarok's impact would've caused. There was no like, deus ex moment, happy ending for him; it was a bittersweet victory and ending for Ciel and the survivors, for a peace that wouldn't even last, going into the ZX games. It's not often I get emotional over freakin' GBA games lol, but this is one of the few that managed to do that. Love this series.

There is something strangely poetic about the final battle, as it acknowledges both classic Mega Man and the X series. Zero 4 is the fight time we oncemore have a final boss who is a human, just like the fights against Dr. Wily. Weil's interactions with Zero are also a roundabout reference to Mega Man 7's ending where Mega Man was going to try to kill Wily but hesitated and also got reminded about the rules of robotics preventing him from carrying through with it. Zero even says here he won't hesitate too. Then with the X series, we spend multiple games fighting against robots who have gone Maverick and are mentally capable of killing humans. Zero even started the series out as one too. Then, here, Zero has to finally re-cross the one line he previously fought against, and murder a human. But this time, it's for the sake of saving lives.

I'm partly embarrassed to admit this, but a _Sonic the Hedgehog_ fan game called _Sonic 3 & Knuckles: Epilogue_ , which had its own YM2612-style remix/cover of this track, introduced me to it long before I would find out that it was from _Mega Man Zero 4_ . Needless to say, this is another wonderful YM2612-style remix/cover. Keep up the good work!
