Many Thx Ed & Lyn, really enjoy your vids & nautical adventures. Brings back many fond memories of my great uncles' 53' Hatteras, which he kept @the Biltmore, Palm Beach. Be sure to cross the bridge next time you're in PB and explore the Island. Lots of fab places on Royal Poinciana & Worth Ave.
@tryingnottosink91076 жыл бұрын
We definitely plan to explore the island next time. We were too rushed on this trip.

Thanks for sharing at 6.50 a foot I don't think I would be staying there over night either. LOL Some beautiful scenery a lot of the shore lines and homes reminded me of Naples and marcos island area just beautiful homes my parents go to naples, every winter and when I can I try to visit them down there for a couple of weeks. I'M enjoying the trip looking forward to the next video. Have a great day.

We are glad you enjoy the videos. We like Naples as well. We get to the west coast about once a year to visit family and friends (by plane).

I do hope you realize that the Boston Whaler on the roof of your boat is every kids dream boat. Break it out an use it once an a while, great boat.
@tryingnottosink91076 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, our Davit broke. It has a hydraulic fluid leak and the Whaler is stuck on the flybridge until we get it fixed.
@captainjackkay31326 жыл бұрын
Hi guys , i am retired Hatteras yacht Captain seems Captain you have trouble understanding clutch delays with detroit engines. for 35 years i mastered it quickly. helps with docking for sure.
@tryingnottosink91076 жыл бұрын
I am not sure what you mean but I am open to any advice. The previous owner of our boat passed away before we bought it, so, with little prior knowledge, we have been learning this boat by trial an error. There are still systems on the boat I have yet to figure out - like the valves for the waste system, why we have a 32 volt fresh water pump and a 110v pump, and what the hell do those big transformers do? :-)
@captainjackkay31326 жыл бұрын
@@tryingnottosink9107 32v systems on all Hatteras boats, you may have 12 24 32 v ,
@captainjackkay31326 жыл бұрын
Next time you arrive in oriental Hatteras plant is Newbern just down the river,your boat was built in this plant,stop in let them explain also they aways put comprehensive manuals with all boats maybe available online
@tryingnottosink91076 жыл бұрын
I was joking. I do know what those things do. I have the manuals and get a lot of good info from the Hatteras forums. The problem I run into is that so many systems have been altered or upgraded since 1979, without first hand knowledge from a previous owner, it is often difficult to figure out. For example, much of the original 32V systems have been converted over with inverters, some of the tanks have been changed from holding to fuel, water makers have been added, a fuel polisher has been added, etc. Slowly, but surely, I am solving the mysteries.
@tryingnottosink91076 жыл бұрын
Although I am not sure what you mean about the clutch delays. I know what they are but not how I should change what I am doing.
@billdomb6 жыл бұрын
Hah. Think you parked right next to our slip in Riviera Beach, but we were out in the Bahamas at the time. :(
@tryingnottosink91076 жыл бұрын
If so, that was a tough docking for me. Those two catamarans made the turn stressful for me. Everything went well, and I remember thinking at the time, that all the other boaters in the marina, some with bigger boats than me, must be used to it. I just made sure to leave at slack tide.

Beautiful houses for sure! I was wondering, when you stay at a marina, do they charge a flat rate for electricity or somehow monitor exactly what you use?
@tryingnottosink91075 жыл бұрын
Yes, most marinas charge a flat rate. Typically $15 per day for a 50 amp line.
@exploringmaine2074 жыл бұрын
Awesome videos! Im a new sub and trying to watch all your videos but there are alot! Do you ever make it up here to Maine?
@tryingnottosink91074 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. We have not been to Maine yet, but will go there some day. The furthest north we have been is Martha's Vineyard.

I was curious, I saw one episode where you were purchasing new bicycles. You said you would explain what happened to the ones you had later. However I did not find out whatever happened to your bicycles before period
@tryingnottosink91075 жыл бұрын
One of them was stolen off our dock by what appeared to be a drunk guy. We captured it on our video cameras. The bikes were basically worthless since they had rusted so badly so we did not really care.

where did you get the mariner's rule t-shirt man that is too cool. Man I am from chicago I would wear that everywhere.
@tryingnottosink91076 жыл бұрын
My mother bought it when she visited Chicago last year. I am not sure where she got it.

I need to know when you come to Ft Lauderdale. I have a condo in the Jackson Tower right down from BGS. Y’all seem like good enough people you could just stay there since I don’t use it much.
@tryingnottosink91076 жыл бұрын
I believe that is right next to the marina. Nice place to have a condo! If it is available during the Boat Show I might just take you up on that offer! :-)

@richardbohlingsr34906 жыл бұрын
My feelings are the ICW is a much better way to travel. Unless you love looking at waves and swells. Much more to see and do as you cruise. Happy sailing.
@tryingnottosink91076 жыл бұрын
I agree, unless you are trying to get some place faster, or cruise at night.
@TheMaxx1116 жыл бұрын
I think you guys got a RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) but what about a PWC(Jet Ski) to put on the back platform? You guys could anchor out and make it into small docks and beaches. Something to consider.
@tryingnottosink91076 жыл бұрын
We have considered a jet ski. We though about keeping it on the bridge and lowering it with our Davit. Perhaps some day.

Its ok...next time by you should stop, it is a beautiful little town. If you do, contact me through this and I will guide you in as there are a few shallows you need to work around. The channel is well marked but local knowledge still helps.

You should consider picking up diving and adding a new facet to your travel channel.
@tryingnottosink91076 жыл бұрын
I would love to but I am a little intimidated by it. I have asthma and breathing and I do not know if that presents a problem. Lyn won't even get in the water without a life jacket on! :-)
@richschwer6 жыл бұрын
Trying Not To Sink sorry to hear that. Asthma and SCUBA don’t mix well.
