This speaks to my soul. I have such a hard time staying on task and getting through things without getting horribly sidetracked. But having this in the background helped me tackle a few small areas in my master closet and my nightstand.

@@danniraearranged You're doing great with this mudroom. I recently did our front porch this spring (same thing as a mudroom.... now that I think about it, I have no idea why we call it a porch... anyway, it was the same sort of space for me, our "catch all" for random things that we had no idea what to do with and items I had already decluttered but never took out of the house. Before I moved my desk and plants in I gave in a coat of white paint...... oh the different that made having that clean slate to work with. It's my plant room / kid free/pet free zone (though the cats and dogs think it's their room lol), and whether I am working, or just sitting there in silence with my morning coffee that space has made all the difference in lifting my mood, and helped me be more productive and overall in a better mood. I am so looking forward to this space of yours giving you that feeling too :)

I just wanted to say it's the best video I've watched in ages. The decision making, the justifying, progress reports! It's like watching Disney's 'Inside out' with your different emotions! With other decluttering videos they make it look easy with simple steps but your struggle with this makes it real and your clarity of your achievement is a motivation. Thank you! I've subscribed x

Also, lol, just wanted to say I’m right there with you on having a hard time letting go of things I can see ‘potential’ in and/or crafting supplies. I love to craft and have done everything with paint, tiles, scrapbook paper, mod podge, sewing , cross stitch, knitting & crochet… I moved almost a year ago from a house I’d been in for 10 years and ended up letting go of a lot knowing i wouldn’t have room in the smaller house I moved to, but still brought totes with me that are stacked with no place to put them lol. Trying to organize and find an accessible place for me supplies just recently, I realized that much of what I had I really probably will never need/use again because my season of life has shifted along with my likes/needs and desires (and that whole Intentionalism I’m going thru) so now I have totes of supplies I’m giving to my grandkids for them to create with 😊 I’ve limited myself to my paints, select cross stitch, my Cricut and select yarn projects . Between those and my love of baking and cooking, I should have enough to keep me busy but not stressed out because of the clutter

Danni, I can totaly see the difference in your decision making. You got rid of the pineapple!!!! Yeah!!! I could tell you were struggling in the beginning of the video, but you pushed through. Your mud room is looking good girl. On your brooms, mops, I would hang them on the wall of the room, so that they one can't fall down and two, it would be easier to get them. I have a hold thing(not sure what to call it, it's one of those that pinches onto the item; hope that makes sense) in my pantry on the wall that holds my duster, broom and mop. As far as the boundaries on the diy stuff, putting dates on them was a good idea. Also like you said only get stuff that you know for certain you will diy. I'm so proud of you!!! I could tell it was hard for you to do, but I'm sure you feel better that you got it done!!! Now do something fun in that room! Decorate it up, and make that mudroom a place you'd like to be in. Question, is that mudroom insulated? Also to brighten it up, paint the walls white or gray, just to give it it some light. Otherwise, great job girl!!!
@danniraearranged3 жыл бұрын
That pineapple, oh my gosh I have no idea why I struggled with letting that thing go LOL it was when I was editing the video I was like...wait a minute... I hesitate when I make decisions on certain items... I then realized those are the items I put in the get rid of pile and take out of the get rid of pile or I hold into it for a period of time until eventually, finally I let it go. It really can be so difficult sometimes, its a process. It is getting easier though especially noticing how I declutter & organize. I feel SO MUCH BETTER! Although its difficult, I think back on the things Ive let go of and I dont miss any of it, not at all! GREAT idea in getting something to hold my cleaning equip. Ill go on Amazon and check them out (Ive been doing very good when it comes to Amazon, LOL being very selective lol.) You saying your proud of me 😭😭😭🥰, that seriously means so much to me! THANK YOU! Yes the mudroom is insulated but I have to work on the electrical. Im definitely painting the walls white, I have the paint and stain, I'm staining the floor, im also painting the doors and the celling. Dear sweet Dani, I understand how hard sentimental things are to know what to keep or do with. I have 6 kids. (Now adults ages 19-35 years old ) I learned the hard way you can’t keep everything lol. Years ago I selected 6 matching totes of a reasonable size , one for each kid (you decide what size is reasonable for you lol). I labeled each tote with child’s name . I limited myself to only keep truly sentimental/ important items for each kid that will fit inside their tote. Report cards, awards, invitations from friends bday parties. Baby book, particularly special artwork ( school clay pots, weavings , drawings ) bronzed shoes (yes, I did that for each child and they are mounted on a plaque with a picture framed of them wearing the shoes they first walked in) , a handful of baby outfits they wore that they may appreciate their own baby wearing years from now, etc. maybe just take a picture of the artwork that you want to remember but not necessarily want to hang onto for decades. Same with special outfits your children wore..find a pic of them in the outfit to keep and gift the outfit to someone to use now. As my children have gotten older, moved out and started their own families , ive given their tote of memories to move on in with them lol. Just recently, my 21 yo just got his tote and it was fun watching him go thru it and see the memories come flooding back ❤️
@danniraearranged3 жыл бұрын
What a BRILLIANT idea! I think having a tote is such a great idea, not to mention it also creates a good boundary, something I am working on currently! Having a tote sets a boundary for us and limits us to the very special items. I think having a tote too and limiting the amount of items also makes it more special because you are choosing the absolute favorites. I seriously love this idea and I think that is exactly what I am going to do! Sentimental items are very hard for me, for sure my hardest items to declutter, thats the reason I keep putting it off and havent gone through it yet lol. But eventually I will have to go through it! Your a SUPER ROCKSTAR MOMMA! 6 kids! I bet your kids love going through there totes, I bet its emotional for mom too. Your a love! Thank you for watching and being here with me and always giving me the best tips and advice!!!! xo

I would put all of your cleaning products inside the house. Get rid of that shelving you had the cleaning supplies on. Get rid of the bookcase cabinet and put everything into the built-in cupboards to give yourself so much more room. Were you planning on keeping the freezer to use or no? About clothes....trust me, things somehow get discolored and ruined being stored away for years and elastic breaks down....ask me how I know. Lol....You are doing a great job. When one is starting their journey of decluttering...if it's the first time around....there are always doubts in your head on some decisions you've made. It becomes easier as time goes on. It's amazing when you have a 3rd or 4th time at it and realize some things just don't work or you don't need. It gets easier making those decisions. You've got it! :-)

regarding new items, the money is already spent! It doesn’t matter if you use it, throw it out, or donate it. The money is already spent. If you can return it or sell it, then you can get some of the money back otherwise you were out of the money. Thank of it as a lesson and do NOT beat yourself up. If you get rid of it, less clutter and you get your house back!!

I'm just getting to where I'm ready to declutter and get rid of stuff. I have so much stuff the clutter is causing me anxiety and even effecting my sleep. My issue is like you mentioned I dont like getting rid of new items or even items people gave me. I tend to buy things that are on sale and never use them and it's gotten out of control.
