Nice haul there! The Kate Wilhelm one sounds interesting, I've only read Where Late the Sweet Birds Sang so would be nice to try that one out. Some lovely cover art on show here too mate! I really need to read the Heechee saga too. The Goblin Reservation looks interesting too, love that cover.

Thanks mate, yes I really enjoyed some of the cover art in this lot. I really enjoyed Gateway, and the rest of the sequels, I'll look forward to you review if and when you get to it.

What a great haul! It is always a pleasure to find a fellow science fiction fan. I am about to start the Foreigner series by C.J. Cherry. It will be my first Cherryh book. I know I need to get to Downbelow Station eventually. Excellent video! I can't wait to explore the rest of your content! Scott.

You can't go wrong with Silverberg. The Poul Anderson book Three Hearts and Three Lions is an okay read. His better book is The Broken Sword and for a great hard SF book of his is Tau Zero. Definitely try to get ahold of some Jack Vance books like the Dying Earth series and Blue World.

You really can't go wrong with SilverBob. Tau Zero was great, i'll have to feature it in the Shed one of these days. In regards to Vance, thanks for the recommendations. I haven't read a whole lot of Vance so interested in reading some more.

Vintage SF and fantasy are *definitely* my favourite genres. I regret that I got rid of a number of books years ago (the Deathworld trilogy included) in an attempt to keep my book collection within reasonable bounds. Among the books that I kept was both C J Cherryh's Faded Sun trilogy, and The Chronicles of Morgaine.
@thesci-fished
@thesci-fished 9 ай бұрын
I'm looking forward to reading the Faded Sun Trilogy, I'll probably attempt to have a go at it when I'm on vacation. I also had to cull my collection years ago, but it's fun restarting it. WHat are your thoughts on the Faded Sun trilogy?
@andrewhelm2813
@andrewhelm2813 9 ай бұрын
@@thesci-fishedTo be honest, I haven't read it in years (I bought and read it back in the early '90's), but the trilogy *must* have been good to have escaped the purge - I don't want to think about how many books I donated to my local library. 😔

Have you read any AA Attanasio? Highly recommend his Tetriad series, the first of which, Radix, was nominated for a Nebula in '82.

I've been meaning to read the Radix Series, I have a digital copy of "In other worlds" but I've been trying to find a local copy of Radix for some time. Great to hear it's highly recommended. I suspect you really need to start on book one to get the full experience?

I'm partial to the maestro known as SilverBob, so I would read Downward first. I enjoyed it. It's comparatively short and to the point.

I read a quick plot synopsis of downward to the earth after shooting this video and it all came back to me. I have read it and recall that I enjoyed it as I often do wish Silverbob 😁😁

@@thesci-fished Sorry for the off-topic question, but are you S. African? I'm asking b/c I'm unfamiliar with all these different English accents, and I'm starting to hear a great variety in English accents (many of the SF channels I watch happen to be British). I never realized there were such striking differences, just of ignorance. Were you born in Britain? My apologies if this is too personal a question.
@thesci-fished

@@unstopitable oh no, not at all personal. What you're hearing is an Australian accent spoken by an Italian migrant. 😊

Haze - oohph...huge disappointment for me. Without spoilers its a retelling of morman text - a guy walking around doing nothing. Dont let the beautiful "Sparth" art fool ya. The book goes nowhere and nothing happens.
