Derrick I have to say how much I appreciate your words on this episode (I just watched it now). I really love Mega64 and I respect you as a director yourself, so hearing you say that about my movie honestly means a lot to me. It made me smile pretty big. Thank you so much, I mean it. I can't wait to see you guys in person again!

About the Star Wars Land thing: it would be better if when a shop owner in character denied you service, there was a Jedi waiting around the corner to use his mind trick "power", or a similar set-up to avoid any angry customers. In any case, there should be an obvious disclaimer upon entering the park that you're entering THEIR world. Just a thought!

I always liked Mike more than Joel, and Rifftrax is kicking ass fine without any reboot of mst3k. a hilarious continuation of him and the bots, Mike and bill are always so damn witty, it's soooo damn funny with countless references to video games, movies and pop culture that we all love from metal gear to leeroy Jenkins haha. they send up star wars, matrix, old classics like mst3k, it's better than Joels super dry sarcastic humor. super stoked you're a fan of rifftrax Rocco.

It was interesting to hear them talk about cigarettes. They're bad, and they can be a bad trip when quitting. They can really take a personal toll on people. Its an interesting topic. Don't smoke cigarettes kids. And the point Derrick made is very accurate. After one puff you dont get addicted forever... but in a way you do, because you need to then gain the strength to put it away for good, but then you think, smoking a cigarette might be easier. . . It's a deadly cycle.

I was interested in that glimpse of the speeders going across the salt flats, but I'm a little worried about how familiar the story beats are gonna be again. They missed the two biggest parts of the Episode 8 teaser. Luke says, "There's so much more" than the light and the dark side. Keep in mind that this is *Luke* is saying this. This strongly implies an end to the ho-hum light side vs dark side dualism. Like, maybe Luke has discovered that the force isn't what everyone thinks it is. There's also the fact that what you think it's Kylo Ren's voice saying, "I only know one truth...," becomes Mark Hamil saying, "...It's time for the Jedi to end." This isn't a Sith going, "Kill the Jedi." It's a Jedi having morphed into something unknown. Maybe he has found a way to challenge the very order or "balance" of the force. Maybe something has led him to denounce the name Jedi. His first quote seems to imply that he has found something new that he thinks the name "Jedi" does not encompass.

Star Wars has the same problem Halo 4 had in that they could do some many different, new and inspired things with a new trilogy but they will tread familiar ground until they feel their back is against the wall. Last Jedi will be a complete retread of Empire. Only when a mainline Star Wars movie isn't "breaking records" or they only make 1 billion dollars instead of 2 billion will they then do anything new or take any chances.

First of all, there isn't reliable evidence that famous people actually followed polyphasic sleep schedules. Second of all, the science isn't there to support the effectiveness of polyphasic sleep and sleep experts warn against such schedules. All of the evidence and the current scientific understanding of sleep suggests that one cannot maintain a polyphasic sleep schedule without suffering the normal effects of sleep deprivation. The reason so many people probably feel that polyphasic sleep helps them is that (and there is a study to demonstrate this) people are bad at evaluating their own levels of sleep deprivation. All of the symptoms of sleep deprivation are hard to self-evaluate and some of the negative long-term health effects of sleep deprivation, which can increase your risk of deadly disease, are things you can't really measure yourself. Polyphasic sleep is most likely bad for your health and performance.

It's ironic to me that they're so critical of the Last Jedi trailer for not showing anything when that's exactly the same reason they praised the Force Awakens trailer.
@mega647 жыл бұрын
The issue was more "they showed stuff that looks just like the last movie" than "they didn't reveal anything." Sorry it came off wrong.

I think a lot of the cool things this time come from the audio, rather than the visuals. If you listen closely in a lot of the scenes with key characters/objects, you can hear important lines from old movies that I think are going to be very critical to where this movie is heading. And for me personally, I think it's exciting that they might finally be exploring the idea of the force beyond the light/dark struggle, and that Luke might finally understand that balance means equal parts of both.
@dasutin7 жыл бұрын
But I tend to agree with your sentiment, I guess. Visually, it didn't show anything new or impressive like when we first saw the downed star destroyers on Jakku, or the crossguard lightsaber.

The episode 7 trailer seemed like a pretty shallow fan service. I like the episode 8 trailer a lot more. There are signs that this movie could turn out to be more philosophically heavy than episode 7.
