I've been watching your reviews for years now and they are the only ones I can trust on youtube. You do it the right way, just like the rest of us...buy a rod that you're interested in, fish it and talk about it. Without the goal of selling us stuff to make a living. Plus, I find that you pretty much have the same taste that I do. Have you thought about building rods for yourself? It's just dumb easy to do. You can really tailor to your own needs, or at least wrap a hook keeper where you want. There's nothing like having a favorite rod that you built. I still buy store rods that interest me , but it isn't the same.

I own several P5 rods including the FMJ. I love it and agree that 1/2-5/8 is the sweet spot. When I want to go lighter, I use an X bites! I love that rod too! megabass makes some amazing rods for sure!

You should review the Dobyns Xtasy 755C, best jig and worm rod I’ve ever used. PHENOMENAL sensitivity.

Great video. I absolutely love the FMJ. I have been dragging big worms with mine and like you said you can feel everything. Have you fished the new p5 javelin? I got one a few weeks back and all I can say is WOW it’s an amazing rod.

$500 you better have great cork and not have to worry about issues with the lock nut. And as you say, a friggin hook keeper.

Good rods don’t have hook keepers
@tylerblank75653 ай бұрын
@@avocato2829why is that?
@avocato28293 ай бұрын
@@tylerblank7565 technically to save weight, but that’s not really the point. The best rods usually just don’t come with hook keepers, whatever the reason is. Most are JDM (and they ARE the best rods anyway).

Have one 873, is it necessary to get fmj😂. Live in Toronto, love dragging football jig for smallie but mainly I fish small lake and pond that full of grass
@matthewpriestley7202 Жыл бұрын
Have you tried the FMJ ripping a lipless through grass ? Haven’t found that perfect lipless rod yet as I like one to be sensitive but also stiff enough to rip through the grass but then to have a bit of bend to keep the fish hooked on treebles. This FMJ intrigues me
@paulreal569816 күн бұрын
Javelin hits the spot for lipless cranks. Strong backbone, light, loads up nicely, not too stiff.

Hey Brian, I'm looking for a longer spinning rod just for wacky rigs. I've been thinking of an NRX+ 7'3" 872 or a GLX 7'5"?? Your thoughts & thanks for your channel.
@Shawn_Lai11 ай бұрын
I love my NRX+ 872 but it is hard tossing 1/8. The tip takes some weight to load and cast properly, but I was able to feel a steelhead hit a small ned head on slack line. That was the bite where I would not have felt on another rod.

You move that jig to the rod tip, would it still balance? I never test a rod like that. Put a heavier reel, etc.

In your opinion what is the best rod length for jig fishing on boat and on shore? If I can only get one rod which length would you recommend?
@Shawn_Lai11 ай бұрын
7' to 7'3"... 7'5" hits a lot of trees but on the flipside you can bomb casts if your not hacking through a jungle. So would depend on if you're pond fishing or river fishing.

I think megabass offers now a lot of overlap on rods from Xbites, dark sleeper, daemos, Super Destroyer shorter rod , Fmj, BMG. The Xbites to me is good for 3/8 wheelhouse or dragging finesse jig cause its softer tip. I also use for light plastics or light wacky free rigs. Where the FMJ wheelhouse is 1/2,5/8 with trailer plus it's more stout to hammer em. I think if you have any just of the 2 rods cover most jig fishing up to 3/4.
