MegaCraft - Genesis Turtle | Rooster Teeth

This is the only megacraft build that has really made me want to start building again, because there is competition in this, all the previous builds I've seen look bad, this one has good trees, the turtle is organic and has good block variation, the terrain is good (okay if you ask a professional builder), and it's extremely original. This is one of the best built organics in Minecraft I have ever seen.

Great A'Tuin is a "Star Turtle", not a tortoise. Tortoises are a different type of turtle, they generally don't swim (through either water OR outer space). :-)

That looks amazing. Probably created a world with mountains and then cut out the bottom to separate the turtle from the rest of the ground to save time. The glass shell look is my favorite part. So pretty.

This map reminds me of the Stephan King novel series The Dark Tower where in a story the main charter talks about a great turtle that holds the earth on its shell. There is a whole poem and story behind that.

so i downloaded it and... what the fuck are these people on? even with mods like Worldedit and stuff and with a team of 30 people the scale of this fucking thing is...this is insane. the most insane thing? THIS GOT 4TH PLACE IN A CONTEST...you give us the world sculpted with the skills of a god and it gets 4th. fucking. place. the 1st place winner is so beyond my limits as a player of minecraft and as a human being that it physically hurts to think about it.

I do believe that it's a thing in native american mythology. That the land we walk on is actually on a giant turtle, or something like that - which would explain why it's called "Genesis Turtle". I'm not an expert on native american culture, so that's pretty much all I can remember; I'm sure if people look it up, they'll find interesting stuff. I might do it in my spare time.

M.C. edit, and a couple mods allow you to build in a larger scale like this. It has features like a sphere paintbrush that makes spheres out of materials you want it out of. there is a Tree command i believe which can make big trees. But the other stuff like with the water is hand built and copy pasted probably.
