Gar Samuelson is in my opinion the most underrated metal drummer of all time. He was the first guy to incorporate heavy jazz influences into thrash, and he was a fundamentally better drummer than any of the other "big 4" thrash bands. Very odd that most people have no idea who he is.

@DEEP MENON This. There are many details that are easy to miss on the final mix of the songs. He had a lot of flare to his playing. Ghosts notes, hi-hat licks, snare rolls, ride and bass drum patterns. Such a talented guy. What a loss.

Sad that someone who was so gifted had to die young because of substance abuse issues. I think Gars was alcohol related- liver related. Gar was an incredible drummer. His jazz and fusion chops infused into the speed metal of Megadeth, along with Chris Polands insane guitar work, has never been duplicated. Those 2 albums they played on are just stellar.

Gar is like a praying mantis on the drums. The bass on this song is one of Ellefson’s best on this album. These two most definitely helped propel Megadeth to its State Of The Art Speed Metal Band status into history!!

I could be wrong , but I'm pretty sure this is all one take , at least the drums and wouldn't surprise me if bass was as well. It's not quantized then pieced together later. You just can't match the energy of cutting live without a click in my opinion . Stand in the same room together , eye to eye and who cares about bleed over . Knowing you HAVE to get it right means you will.

It was all over for Megadeth once Max Norman came along. He really polished the band way too much. As early as 1992 he convinced them to use digital pitch correction (yes, it existed that long ago, it's just that it was expensive and therefore less common than it would become with the advent of pro tools).
