Yupper, for nostalgia, I go watch the TOS vidjya once in a while with my step mom Becky (she says hey btw, gross), TOS would be great! Ride the Lightning (moar great chord following arpegimoes), AJfA (that F#m wah section), Save Yourself from MSG, Because MF'nS! Sad but True... etc.. carry on, and quit texting Becky back... it gives her hope.. :(

God damn man... the insight behind the concepts that Marty uses here are arguably more valuable than the actual solo itself. Thanks so much for this continued exemplary work, Ben. I really appreciate it.

This is how you teach a solo! I love how you explained also the context of the licks and not only the notes. I've tried to learn this for ages but that "tricky part" in the end still kicks my ass.

Wow! Best I’ve seen it played (next to Marty himself) and even better job breaking it down. Thanks so much.

I am not at this level of playing yet. Way too fast for me. With your breakdown, explanation and time on my part practicing I feel I could I can accomplish this solo. Thank you so much.
@pilotamurorei6 жыл бұрын
This solo is insane, and when you play it slow, you can hear the enka influences in the note choices he made (Enka is old Japanese music from decades ago that still has a following among older Japanese people). It's actually showing how far back he was into Japanese music.
@pilotamurorei6 жыл бұрын
And no, I'm not saying he uses the Japanese scale patterns to do his solos. Specifically, he adds notes within the chords that would make it sound very Enka-like. At full speed you can't tell, but when played slowly the sound is DISTINCTLY Japanese. The notes he chose within the solo were very intentional as he wanted to make the solo sound japanese without quite sounding Japanese to a regular listener.

Duda! I've learned so much from all of your videos I'm still trying to comprehend the influx of info. I wish I was like #5 from Short Circuit. "Need Input" reads books etc. knows everything in seconds. You're a great teacher with a sense of humor. I must have watched your intro to "shred pentatonics" a few dozen times. "Today I will play a hot minor pentatonic lick using alternate picking, yes" Hilarious. It has happened to me!

Awesome 👍. I tried learning from guitar tablitures but it didn't make sense. But KZbin videos are awesome to learn guitar. Thanks for the video. Folks watching you can learn by practicing over and over and it becomes muscle memory so to speak. Anyone can learn guitar these days. Back in the 80s and 90s we tried to teach ourselves guitar looking at guitar tabs. KZbin videos are awesome.

I've seen a lot of Symphony Of Destruction solo lessons on KZbin and I can say for sure that this is THE BEST one. @Chris-w4j4 ай бұрын
Most of that is spot on correct. The ascending minor6 arpeggio run he uses all down picks and rushes the 2nd and 3rd note a little. When he slides up he rushes down pauses at the 12 fret before the flutter of hammer on and pull offs and does pick the 12 fret one more time before sliding up to the last inversion. Which he starts with an up pick and doubles the up pick on both the 18th and 15th fret of the e string. Really gets underneath of the string so it vibrates to and from the Pick up and kinda chirps with some fingers touching the string producing semi harmonics. (More marty isms I call chirps) The evil blues madness lick he slides down from 14-13 (adter the bend) then slides down and back up into starting the lick. The last and final blues lick, He sweeps up into it all, even after each bend he sweeps across the b 13 and e 12 and pauses. That was all wrong in this lesson video. Other then that. Great work. 99% Marty is REALLY technical and very difficult to transcribe.
