I actually even tho its partially from Earthbound, this was version was actually remade as the Chara theme, but Toby never put it in the game, therefore Toby Fox technically made this song, which was then re-made/mastered by Sans the Bonehead. git ur facts straight, also u should credit Toby Fox as well as the game Earthbound. I have this sort of pet theory that when Toby originally composed this song for an Earthbound(original game released in 1995) fan album, it was meant to sort of reference the structure of the original Giygas boss theme. (Pokey Means Business) The tense, somewhat complex chiptune intro followed by a hard drop to aggressive, synthesized rock. As if it's possibly his own take on the idea of a boss theme for that fight. In the wake of immense popularity growth like the one Undertale(2015) experienced, some things by the original creator can get recontextualized in the public eye, such as what happened with this song. Though in an interesting twist, one could argue the fandom's view isn't that far off thematically, as there are some parallels you could draw between Pokey/Giygas and Frisk/Chara in how they affect each other and their respective worlds. As for Gaster/Mystery man, it might be interesting to consider that many believe his design is inspired by Yume Nikki's(2004) Uboa, who's infamous melting face and ability to transport the player to a *black void with a giant black/red monster in the background* is in itself very possibly a reference to Giygas once more. Funnily enough, some things just maybe come around full circle.
