Just saw this about 3 days ago. Aubrey Plaza and Adam Driver are the most fleshed out performers in this movie. They understand what kind of characters they are portraying and it's really good. I actually kinda like this movie after watching it because it's almost like a modern arthouse film. Definitely the most polarizing movie of the year by far and in appreciate Francis Ford Coppola for his dedication and risks for it.

it's so disappointing to me when the writing isn't great on movies like these - where there's maximum effort and success on every other aspect, and sounds like the potential is there, but it comes down to the script just being a mess and needing a good writers workshop... it's a bummer. it's like the big name directors see the scripts as complex and cerebral and deep instead of messy, hard to follow, and detached. great review!!

@@nordicvolkan I don’t blame you. It benefits from a bigger screen but it’s not good enough for me to say it’s worth the effort of going to a theater.

This movie is a Stageplay/Experimental Cinema. Francis let the movie made itself and this is what we got. It's art. Is it great? no. Is it terrible? no. It just is...a beautiful messy experimental film with a charm.

I do think it benefits from the big screen, but ya. I don’t think it’s good enough to work hard for. It’s a flawed and I don’t blame anyone for not wanting to spend theater prices on something like this.

@@augustkellerwrites You certainly hit on a lot of the points. I just don't think any of it landed at all for me. The acting for the most part I found awful, the visuals were a big miss, the story was all over the place, sure I could follow it but for the first hour I was just thinking. What is this? It just never got good at any point I don't think. While 2 hours and 17 minutes or whatever its length is, certainly is not long. It felt twice the length to me. Good on Coppola making whatever the hell this was suppose to be but not a single thing worked for me.
@augustkellerwritesАй бұрын
@@CoaS_Podcast honestly, I get that take. It’s funny, I seem both 5-star and 1-star reviews but every seems to be saying the same things. They just seem to be valuing the film’s strengths and weaknesses differently. Definitely one of the biggest curiosities I’ve ever reviewed ha.
@CoaS_PodcastАй бұрын
@@augustkellerwrites I agree there. I have certainly seen a wide range of reviews at this point with many similar points made but different degrees of success I suppose. I did catch 2 people leave my screening about half way through the film, but there was maybe 10 of us in total to see it.
