I’m like 12 minutes into this video and I had no idea it was from a small creator. Genuinely thought from the quality of this video that it was from a huge one

As a film maker you must appreciate the unbridled freedom the director had spending his own money and having his own vision
@NB-gu9rsАй бұрын
That's like telling someone "as a shopkeeper, you must appreciate the unbridled freedom Al Capone had in setting up a business empire and having his own vision." No. No, I musn't, sorry! I did really enjoy Mija's balanced review, but... no, if that many people suffer over it, maybe I *don't* appreciate it. "Having your own vision" isn't an objective moral good if that vision is... kinda crappy and leads you to exploit other people.
@moviemijaАй бұрын
@@NB-gu9rs While I do appreciate the concept of artistic freedom like @poppymorreale mentioned, you’re right to point out the execution of that freedom is not free from criticism. In the case of Megalopolis, it’s frustrating to see a film carry out such idealistic themes in fantasy but fail to put the same moral integrity into practice during it’s production. I’m in awe that this film was made but not anywhere near the path of idolization for its maker.

Yes indeed. But it's so dull. After 1h 20 mins I was thinking "I still have another hour to go..." That's not a good sign.

I thought it was a good film from the heart and imagination from the "father" of the movie. The point was well taken. It was over the top. I would like to live in utopia. it's a warning to today's world and what happened during that period of time due to people and their actions. I have been a long time fan of Grace VanderWaal since the competed in AGT a few years ago. My favorite IDOL. She is a musical genius. She acted the part of Vesta Sweetwater.

I'm in the UK and probably one of the first to see it. It's not for everyone but it's definitely an experience that's been missing in cinema today

i just watched it this morning at the flix and spent the entire time thinking "What is the point". Visually impressive and good performances but the film is SO dull so I'd disagree wiht it being definitely worth peoples time. it's not, if you value your time or unless you get to see it for free. But it's not worth hard earned cash and 2h20m for it

Omg, would be an absolute spectacle to hear your review of Baldur's Gate 3 when and IF you sunk over a hundred hours into it :D (Edit: Grammar.)

@@moviemijathe movie to me was not the acid trip (other then some scenes) it was made out to be. While I will say Caesars arc and back story is somewhat compelling and the effects while bad have amazing design. But Coppola once said that "writing and acting are the hydrogen and Oxygen that makes water." Both of those elements are mis jointed and inconsistent. The last 2 minutes really baffled me like "that's it?" . love your energy.

I just feel bad for my man crush Adam Driver he keeps picking movies that aren't beneficial for his career and its sad
@moviemijaАй бұрын
@@PoppyMorreale I wouldn’t feel too bad for him! He is magnificent in this. And I get the sense from interviews that he has an artist’s heart and isn’t too concerned with public opinion. (But the public can be ridiculously harsh).

I watched this to hear your take on the other song Grace wrote for the movie. Rumour has it that it was too loud to the point of distortion. Is that true? From what I understood Francis has sued one film company and an entertainment mag for false information and spreading unfounded rumours about people quiting and sexual misconduct.
@moviemijaАй бұрын
@@Calers-gu1ib oh that’s interesting! I didn’t have that experience with the sound in my viewing. The song was mesmerizing to me (and technically not too loud). I think Civil War was the loudest movie, in decibels, I’ve heard all year.
@Calers-gu1ibАй бұрын
@@moviemija You only mention one of her songs from the movie. I didn't mean so loud you had to cover your ears, I meant the way they recorded it in the movie it was loudy distortion making it blurry if you get my meaning.
