Megaman X 4 - X's Ending [PS1 & SS ENG]

After a narrow escape, X contemplates his recent battles and adversaries. Refusing to harm humans and reploids, X asks his closest friend to end his life, should he ever turn Maverick. Will Zero do what it takes and follow through on X's request if that day arrives?

Despite the laughable voice acting, this is a very deep ending. X understands the pain and sorrow that has occured throughout the game, and he understands that should he turn Maverick, he wants his friend and mentor to take him out rather than anyone else. X realizes that the Maverick virus will continue on, and he believes that he'll be affected, though he won't, and he wants his friend to oust him for him, should he turn. That is deep, and I am a nerd.

I can't forget this ending of two in this friggin' amazing game I was introduced to at a very young age. I love how X's playthrough is just a storyline task of retiring Maverick after Maverick for the sake of the world and all life, and that in 4 he seems particularly hated by almost everyone for being what he is and doing what he does, challenged by a formidable row of opponents and odds that defy his cause. Masterminded by the dreadful wraith that is Sigma and his corrupting influence on Reploids. It always stood out to me how lonely X's journey is and the trials he has to overcome in order to get the job done and save the day, his mind visited by the horrors of the conflict and the opposition of his enemies. I love also how Zero is just flatly confident and faithful in his partner's integrity and capability as a Maverick Hunter, yet observes his concerns and reciprocant confidence. It's one of the most inspiring scripts, haunting and chilling concerning the darkness that surrounds but X being the living weapon and representative of peace he is and confronting every challenge with singleness of heart and an immovable spirit. A miserable and trauma-inducing war but a satisfying and solemn ending, getting to finally go home and rest with his fellow soldiers and best friend.

I still wish they finally tied in the Mega Man series with the X series. From what I have heard Zero wasn't supposed to have killed the original cast. But honestly, how can that be possible for him not to kill the cast, yet Bass, Roll, Duo, Proto Man, Rush and Mega Man are nowhere to be seen, despite robots living for eons? What I figure is that Wily released Zero, who Zero kills, probably because of his instability, even if he wasn't intentionally trying to kill Wily. Zero fights and destroys Bass, Proto Man, even Duo and Rush. Mega Man tries to stop Zero, but Zero is too powerful, so Mega Man self destructs to try to stop him, which is just enough to put Zero in a stasis mode, where he is awaken later on by Reploid scientists, and then causes havoc, forcing various units and Sigma himself to confront him Basically Mega Man has to be dead. They have already established that X and Mega Man are two different robots, especially in the OVA, where he is building X from scratch. Even X didn't even know who Light was until Light told him who he was and why he was being created. If Wily or Zero were still a threat, obviously Dr. Light wouldn't have made a robot with AI. Because the whole reason why he had X put to sleep was to do diagnostics and he feared he may have been too dangerous to be released just yet. If Wily or Zero were still around, Light would have made another Mega Man to combat him. But the threat was eliminated. Light seemed to be all alone, too. Don't see Roll, Auto, or other bots. Light saw the threat was eliminated but wanted to finish his magnum opus before he died, seeing how it wasn't long before he died of old age.

I think zero and x ending are both canon. Zero finish his battle against colonel , and iris and probably general while x battled colonel but zero destroyed him completely then double and sigma. Zero returned to hq first before x.

Honestly I really liked the animated cutscene and the voice acting in X4, I know the voice acting could’ve been better but at the same time, it felt like I was watching part of a movie, I found the cutscenes enjoyable, I dont know why they didn’t do this for X5 because X5 only really had pictures and text but no like actual cutscenes going on and no voice acting. X4 May had unfitting voices for the characters but I still found these cutscenes enjoyable, I do wish they would’ve gave X more screen time in the cutscenes (not counting gameplay) in his story though. He’s the main character and we only really see him in a cutscene in the ending, as for Zero’s he’s in almost every cutscene. Through his story you find out more about his past and it just feels that Zero has a lot more going on in his story than X’s, X’s just mainly focuses on what’s going on in the present, the cutscenes for X doesen’t really share X’s point of view, or what he’s going through most the time, don’t get me wrong, I still enjoyed it, I just felt they could’ve done more with X. In my opinion, Zero had a better story but X had a better ending, just the fact he tells Zero that if he were to become a maverick Zero has to take care of him and make sure he doesen’t harm others. This was my favorite Megaman X game out of them all to be honest. And the X series has always been my favorite Megaman series of them all by far

God, these endings always tore me apart. The bloodshed, the suffering, the misleading, all because of Sigma. He tricked these people into thinking they were in danger, which led to them defending themselves against a danger that didn't exist until their very last breath. This game probably has one of the most tragic stories I've ever played through.
