Megaman Zero 2 - The End of a Legend

X never really did get a chance to enjoy life did he? Poor guy. I find this ending for the character very interesting though... In the end, X made the ultimate sacrifice to seal the dark elf with his original body. He didn't have to become a Cyber elf though. I'm sure if he wanted to he could have used Copy X's body before it was given its own personality. (I'm sure Ciel would have been happy to X a new new body.) Instead, X just disappeared. He chose to leave. X's big heart, his limitless potential to make his own choices, ended up being his ultimate downfall. Even though he had the power to fight a hundred wars, he never wanted to, but had no choice since he was the only one who could in Zeros absence. He was so worn out from the endless fighting that after a hundred years he just wanted to rest in peace and leave the world in other peoples hands. The absence of any real hero leading to everything in the Zero series, and this very scene with the Dark Elf being freed. While I can understand why some of these fellow commenters might hate the Zero series for this story, I actually think it makes perfect sense with what was established as early as X1. Even the ending narration in that game said "How long will he keep on fighting? How long will his pain last? Perhaps only the X-Buster on his hand knows for sure..." I think this outcome, makes the most sense. It's certainly better than Keiji's original idea of having the original X become the mad tyrant of Neo Arcadia. (Even alluded to in X4's X ending) This series finally answered the question posed by every X game: "How long will X keep on fighting?" And also the question we as the audience would have to consider: "What happens if X stopped fighting?" Well, this is what would happen. X was never going to fight forever. Zero however, always had the soul of a fighter, I could easily see him outlasting X. But just like X, Zero was eventually forced to make the ultimate sacrifice in the end as well. Thus ending this era of Megaman. At least Humans and Reploids finally lived in peace afterwards. It's sad that X never got to see it finally happen in his lifetime. That was what he wanted most of all.

The only break he really had was after The Elf Wars in Neo Arcadia. He was founder and ruler of the last surviving people and reploids on Earth. The energy shortages may have been a problem but at least he didn't need to fight anymore. He ruled for around a hundred years. He was the one who caused the mass production, he was the one that fought wars for hundreds of years, he deserved to be ruler, and finally rest. Eventually, he got too tired to rule anymore, and the second half of the dark elf was still on the loose. He captured the dark elf and sealed his body into a chamber, keeping the dark elf inside. His mind was split into the 4 guardians, and a fifth piece. Cyber Elf X. His mind and spirit, in his cyber elf form. He may not be dead, but he'll be resting for a long time.

tbh while as i agree with hundred percent u said this wasnt the "end" of the series well what i mean is megaman zx came where the soul or their dna people argue about it so im not gonna be specific were turned to biometals while as dr wile did so too and another evil scientist fight and all then we defeat him again and then a new guy pops up and we defeat him in megaman zx advent and the interesting part about this is we play as axel rather then zero or X axel appears to have turned into a model named model a and then their is the fact that now that we defeat him one of his friends appear to have taken into his footsteps in the ending saying that he wants to reset the world by covering it in water but welp we never got an answer to that cliffhanger or did we? we go to megaman legends series where then we find out that there are copy of humans called carbons living in space and the earth is legit covered in water and that there is only one true human left called master and then she dies so uh the bad guy kinda won since well humans did go extinct

@@daspacito6546 Yep, love ZX and also like Legends. It's neat to see what the Megaman world looks like so long after X and Zeros time. (Also Classic Megaman references in ZX! One of the first times it felt like the Classic timeline characters weren't actually forgotten in the far future.)

When I saw X's body die and I couldn't do anything about it to save him no matter how fast I was or how much I clicked every button and searched for any alternative endings to save X I just found nothing. I was crying that I couldn't save him like Zero always does, so after I wiped my tears I was just angry and furious at Elpizo and fucking beat that asshole with no damage because I hated what Elpizo had done.

You should've been more mad at the Baby Elves since they were the ones that convinced Elpizo to do this all in the first place, his weakened mental state after he got all those Reploids killed made him vulnerable to their control.

Megaman ZX was the first game I ever loved as a kid. After seeing and reading on all of the X lore and storyline, and coming to X's Body death here and eventually his final death when I got the Zero collection in middle school... It was bittersweet.

Zero: X...! X!!!!!!!! Seriously though, this feels like a true representation to what could have surged through Zero's mind as his friend's body was destroyed. It could have triggered a few more memories of the X he fought alongside in the Maverick Wars.

Overall, Zero’s memories don’t seem to return to him in detail over the course of the series more so feelings of the past so while he may have felt the emotions he probably didn’t remember all those moments from the past at least in any discernible detail though I imagine some key moments could’ve flashed before him

In fact, if I was to do a crash course of the Mega Man games, I'd rewrite a few things from the X & Zero games to further the connection. For one, a few areas that would trigger Zero's memories, like the word 'Maverick', 'Sigma', X. Those kind of words would be something he would remember well.

Technically X was gone for GOOD in Zero 3, but that body, the almighty body of X ended in Zero 2

The years upon years of fighting, with heaps upon heaps of data and upgrades over the years he has gotten from the Light capsules and also his own personal upgrades onto that body, dating back centuries past to the Robot Masters era and which became the prototype reference that leads to the creation of Reploids. Only for it to be ended on the hands of a maverick, the very things he has fought for a very long time against to achieve coexistence. Perhaps X could have went back and fight once again, but he's tired and so walked away to leave it all to his most trusted companion, Zero who had been there with him side by side since the very beginning. It's more of a poetic end really, for one who's considered a legend who prefers pacifistic means to achieve peace, but are forced to fight because the conflict will always exist as long as greed and conflicting ambitions exists.

You're right, he was almost erased as a virus ("My program... Is fading..."). But X, until the end of Megaman Zero 3, and with the help of a living dr Light, he would have a body again.

One thing interesting is Dr. Wily made Zero to destruct X, and there should be no such thing as the same deep-thinking programme in X. However, Zero eventually learns to think deeply like X, and kinda deeper, due to how twisted his destiny is……

The original Megaman pretty much was a Robot Master, the very first model after Proto Man. That said, he was still a robot, with a programmed personality although with a certain degree of individual thought. X is the next step, a completely independent mind, with a personality not programmed. X is Megaman if he didn't obey the Laws of Robotics (which exist in the megaman series), he's more human than all of the robot masters in the classic series, who were just that, robots.
