My favorite thing about this ending is how it parallels the MM2 one in some ways. Not only by Megaman being on the side with the picture, but himself. Contrast with how depressed and confused he was back then, thinking about the robots he's scrapped by his own buster and if the peace will ever be, y'know, everlasting. On the other hand, in here, he's walking away from a exploding fortress knowing that, if he ever leaves this realm, no one will be the there to stop Dr. Wily's schemes, and his family would have been long gone. It doesn't help that this is just after Bass snapped him out of his rage from seeing Wily escape from prison.
