This spoof tribute revision story to Superman is an overlooked gem. It really deserves more attention. PS: Not sure if you missed the ending credit scene, but it does conclude the side story with Bernard.
@BoSmith70459 ай бұрын
You need to put Rango on your list. Original ending is best but that might be hard to find. The new ending doesn't change the story, it was just a odd add on when it went to streaming.
@TheDaringPastry13139 ай бұрын
This movie got so overlooked because of all the other animated movies that came out in 2010. It's very charming and has had a surge many years ago that has made it really popular after the fact. Tangled, How to Train Your Dragon, Shrek 4, Despicable Me and Toy Story 3 were the big ones
@zeph0shade9 ай бұрын
I am pretty certain that the biggest factor was Despicable Me. The movies had some similar themes, but Despicable Me had better marketing, so I think tons of people basically assumed Megamind was just a knockoff of it. It would be asking a lot to expect everyone to look past the title and 1-sentence summary before going to see a movie.

Why is it the Minions from Despicable Me are so popular/iconic yet the Pizza Planet Aliens from Toy Story aren't? I've never been a fan of the Minions, but even the 1st time I saw Despicable Me I enjoyed everything except the Minions. Part of the reason why they are annoying is the fact that they only spoke in gibberish & the occasional word, but I realized after a while that they are blatant ripoffs of the Aliens from Toy Story. Think about it: The Aliens are 3 eyed green aliens with oval heads in blue jumpsuits that often speak in unison & only say a few things. The Minions are 1 eyed yellow round creatures in blue overalls that often speak in unison & say even fewer things. The most annoying thing about the Minions to me is that (much like a lot of side comic relief characters in animated kids films) they are far too overused & take away from the seriousness of scenes while the Aliens are sparingly used to make a quick joke & lighten the mood (or in the 3rd film save the day) then move on. While there are some who argue that the Minions are far more useful as sidekicks/helpers to the main cast than the Aliens, the Minions (as shown from their spin off film) cause a lot of problems for the people they work for, meanwhile the Aliens (as we saw from the Buzz Lightyear animated tv show) are actually scientists & engineers that are key to Star Command rather then a hindrance to Buzz & the other Space Rangers. Sorry I went on a rant in this comment, but I really can't stand the Minions, so it bothers me how "iconic" they became in popular culture when they are so annoying as side characters especially when compared to the Aliens.

Everyone is calling Metro-Man a jerk for some reason but he was the only one in the city that wasn't a jerk. He had to carry the weight of millions on his shoulders for years. It's not Metro's fault he's practically perfect in every way and, if anything, the people who constantly took advantage of his need to help and save people less fortunate and weaker than him were the real jerks.

THE RUSSIANS ARE COMING! THE RUSSIANS ARE COMING! Unrelated to this episode: From 1965 I recommend a very funny comedy based on the paranoid tensions of the Cold War. “The Russians Are Coming! The Russians Are Coming! plays on the concept of a curious Soviet submarine captain wanting to get close enough just to get a glimpse of American shoreline. He runs aground and sends a crew ashore to find a boat that can tow them off. The crew’s inadvertent interactions with the island villagers is the source of comedic tension leading to potential confrontation. There is a happy and satisfying ending. It’s not fast moving, no phenomenal special effects. Simply well made, great storyline. Top name actors from the era. Thought you personally may find it a really fun watch for an old fashion movie.

its one of the few films of the era that actually had human portrayal of Russian, instead being a washed faceless bad guys of the era. Funny thing is that Kremlin was disappointed that Russian's had not thought the plot first according to Norman Jewison.

Such a good movie even fun for adults to watch DreamWorks does this well 😇 I love that kinda like Shazam being a hero isn't about the powers it's about the intent and what you do with the powers that is important. My son loves anime and the chosen one concept but it's so good to have movies that make kids think about who they want to be and why they look up to the heros they do. Lmao as a movie n marvel geek there is a detailed reason why he prefers Goku over Superman for example so it's hilarious . using the characters as metaphors works ha ha . Thnx for the reaction 😇

Near the end of the movie we get to see how much of a jerk MetroMan really is. He played the part of the Hero, but it was just an act because that’s what was expected of him, just like how he knew that MegaMind wasn’t really a villain and was just playing a part of what society expected of him. But when Titan arrived, a real villain that had no hesitation in causing death and destruction, MetroMan tapped out, simply because he was burned out on playing the hero. Which shows that in the end, he was no real hero.
@hulkslayer6269 ай бұрын
Which begs the question... is someone who saves hundreds of lives, but doesn't want to, NOT a Hero? How about someone who WANTS to save people, but never does... are they a Hero just because what they feel inside? 🤔
@StoryMing9 ай бұрын
No, no, _NO._ -- I mean, yes, he was _not_ the perfect paragon of stellar nobility that everyone took him for (we already knew that); and yes he was burned out. But that is not the point. He tapped out in order to allow Megamind the chance to step up, and show everyone (including himself) that he was in fact a hero. As long as MetroMan remained in the spotlight, constantly saving the day, Megamind would always be overshadowed, sidelined- and misjudged. Staying out of it was not a jerk move; it was in fact the best thing he could do- he knew Megamind had this! (And besides… it was Megamind, after all, who created the situation in the first place. It is only fair he take responsibility for setting it right)

I always thought this was a Jim Carrey movie, cause Megamind looks exactly like Jim Carrey.. Maybe the Role was meant for Jim Carrey, but at the last minute something happened and he couldn’t be in the movie, so the got Will Ferrell. Only by that time the character model was already done and based on Jim Carrey’s likeness, and there was no time or budget to go back and change it...???

Megamind was made at the same time as "Despicable Me" and was obviously made to try to capitalize on it. Pixar and DreamWorks we're in competition and Pixar often made the superior product. This is why you find multiple sequels to "Despicable Me" and only the one Megamind. It's just not as funny.

🤓👍 Beginning with their very first movie, "Antz" back in 1998, Dreamworks Animation films have always been extremely stacked with celebrity vocal talent. Even more so than Disney/Pixar. If you enjoyed this, then you'll definitely also enjoy "Monsters Vs Aliens" (2009).
