I love that Metro Man became Music Man, _because_ he's awful at it. This is a man who can fly, move at super speeds, has laser vision and super strength, he's been adored all his life and has been seen as all-can-do, and... *He's tired!* So what does he do? He finds something he's bad at, something that takes practice, and works on that. He found something that can challenge him, and gave himself an actual goal to strive for and work towards.

"Oh, you're a villain, alright! Just not a SUPER one!" "Oh, yeah? What's the difference?" "PRESENTATION!" Fun Fact: A whole crew of animators was dedicated solely to the movement of capes. Location Location Fact: The Metro City Observatory was modelled after the Griffith Observatory outside Hollywood. Action Voice Actor Fact: Instead of voicing his character from within a sound booth, Brad Pitt, who is a very active actor, insisted on using a handheld microphone for his performance and roaming around the studio. Don't Blink Fact: In the early portion of the movie, when Megamind (Will Ferrell) has Metro Man (Brad Pitt) trapped in the real abandoned observatory, look closely at the scene where the images of Megamind and Metro Man are being projected upon the buildings. Just after Megamind orders Minion to fire the death beam, there is a single frame where Metro Man fades slightly from the observatory screen and reappears faintly behind Megamind on the opposite screen. This foreshadowed Metro Man faking his death through superspeed.

Watching this movie really gave a major point of Megamind's character. To him, this whole villainy thing was just a game. He wasn't in it to hurt anyone, he just enjoyed the metaphors of hero and villain and zest in the thrill of the fight. If all he wanted was power, he would have just given it all to himself instead. Tighten, on the other hand is sinister because he takes this seriously. He's not goofy, he's not funny, he's just a terrible person who only cares about personal gain and vindication. @docomega7862
@docomega7862 Жыл бұрын
I'm not too sure about the other ones, but tintin probably doesn't get a lot of reactions for 2 reasons. First, because it's not part of a big trend of movies. For example, once you do a disney classic, you do all of them. Once you make a kung fu panda or how to train your dragon, you'll make the other because of franchises have a huge common fanbase. Once you do a hero animated movie like despicable me, you're likely to do megamind, rise of the legends and big hero 6 as they are the same trend. Tintin on the other hand is it's own thing, so unless you make it, you're not really going to see demand for it. The second reaspn could be that the film and franchise isn't that huge in the US which is the main audience targeted by reacrion chanels, so they aren't seeing much demand for it

@docomega7862

I'd say that within the context of this universe, him being forgiven for his criminality is justified. He was considered a joke by everyone, more like entertainement than a real vilain. He also probably never really hurt anyone, so again, it was more a fun routine thing for the city than a true terror. The only moment he became really bad wasafter beating metroman, and even then, he vandamized a few buildings but that's it. You noticed the police being unable to do anything because of metroman, but the same applies to megamind. Titan was the first true vilain they ever saw, one who didn't play a game but who truly wanted to do evil because he doesn't care. The ciry is defenseless against such a vilain. So, because they grew used to relying on metroman to be their hero, they chose megamind to become the new one because they can't live without a hero figure. Also, except roxanne, I'mpretty sure nobody knows he created titan, and roxane knows he didn't do it for evil, so she won't tell anyone

One theory I’ve heard is that Minion is using a better watch that can also replicate eye colour. After all, he did need a second watch because Megamind had the other. In reality, it probably is just an animation error but it’s interesting to come up with possible diagetic explanations.

I just love how Roxanne treats her kidnapping, like it's just another day. It's also the first hint how long and often they did the same stick. It's the perfect setup for when they discover that Metro man is still alive and reveals why he faked his death. And while Megamind keeps the cycle going, he is making himself into a victim of the cycle, trapped, doomed to repeat himself again and again. And yes, Metro man went easy on Megamind. Considering the speed he shows in the flashback, he could have stopped Megamind from escaping at any time or at least have him back behind bars in the blink of an eye. Thankfully no one knew the full extend of his powers or Tighten would have been impossible to defeat.

at this point, someone probably aready said it... but you know why metroman decided to become a musician? because it is something that his super powers cannot help him with... troughout all his ife, everything was easy for him, everything he tried, he scuceeded, music is something that one needs to practice to become good at, and that is what he wanted, he wanted to acctuly feel like he diserved something, he wanted to reach something trough hardwork! metroman is such a human character and i love it

also another side note, you can tell by the colors roxanne wears through out the movie starting by the color red representing the full oposite of blue or as some would say it represents metroman, going to purple (a mix between blue and red) when he is starting to get to know roxanne and fall in love, to finally wear full blue at the end of the movie, representing the growth megamind had in her.

I always love seeing you react to Hans Zimmer having done the score when you reach the credits. Part of the reason you see him everywhere, at least in this case, is that HZ is head of the music division at DreamWorks. So he'll do his share of DreamWorks movies every now and then.

Yes! I love this movie and is terribly underrated for its story telling and villain characterization. I hope that you consider Chungking Express, it’s both cute and very “deep” in its feelings and I’m sure you’d have a lot to say about it! Continue on with the foreign films!

Somewhere in the multiverse is a universe where Megamind came out first. It was then followed by Megamind 2, a movie starring Minion, Megamind 3, and Megamind: Teenage Angst. Also, Dreamworks ended up buying a floundering Illumination.

The theory behind Metro Man choosing to learn music is because unlike every other 'talent' he has which he seemed to be born with , music is the only thing he wasnt born to know , he has to learn it like everyone else. Its really interesting

Megamind’s “space father” illusion was a parody of Marlon Brando’s portrayal of Jor-El from Superman.

Love how Megamind calls Metro City...Metrocity like Atrocity...lol 🤣 I get the feeling that Hal Stewart's name is a combination of HAL Jordan and John STEWART who in DC Comics both are Green Lanterns for earth...both heroes. Even if Titan turned out to be a villain. There are also a group of heroes in DC called the Teen Titans. Made up of the Justice Leagues sidekicks. Then there is "Space Dad" who looks like Superman's Kryptonian father Jor-El and sounds like a Marlon Brando impression who played Jor-El in 1978s Superman The Movie. So quite a few DC references. I Think the copper weakness was making fun of Superman not being able to see through lead and Kryptonite which takes away his powers. Lol 🤣 If you have not seen Monsters Vs. Aliens ...it has a similar vibe just with movie monster tropes and alien tropes. Steve Colbert I think plays the President dealing with the alien crisis. Reese Witherspoon plays Susan Murphy and Paul Rudd plays Derek Dietl and Hugh Laurie plays Dr. Cockroach.

Megamind isn’t deaf (note the look he exchanges with Roxanne when “MusicMan” starts playing). But there was a real villain out there to stop; the goal was to convince MetroMan to return to the job: this was _not_ the time to get sidetracked in a debate over his level of musical ability, or lack thereof.

the fan theory on why metro man decided to become a musician is because it's one of the few things he can do based entirely on his own skill not his superhuman abilities. also one of the first movies to explore an incel as a villain. also i believe it's getting a tv series on peacock. space dad is marlan brando as superman's dad in the christopher reeve movies

_"also one of the first movies to explore an incel as a villain."_ Well, I guess that depends on what you qualify as an incel. Some arguable examples: The badguy from My Demon Lover 1987 Edward Nygma/The Riddler (Batman Forever 1995) Boris (GoldenEye 1995) John Doe (Se7en 1995) Richie Gecko (From Dusk till Dawn 1996) "The Thin Man" (Charlie's Angels 2000) "Stuntman Mike" McKay (Grindhouse: Death Proof 2007)

Even before the MCU peaked, this movie asked 3 questions: "What if you had the power to do good but were lead to believe you're evil?", "What if you had powers but you just don't want to spend your life fighting evil?" and "What if you gave power to an unworthy person?".

If you saw the original Superman from the 1970's with Christopher Reeve, then you know the reference to the "space dad", Marlon Brando played Jor-El, Superman's father. He is best known as the Godfather in, well, "The Godfather". Also, some movies that everyone seems to have slept on, besides this one; "Robots" with Robin Williams and "Hoodwinked" with Anne Hathaway. Both are quite hilarious, and not the story you were expecting.

Re: the Space Dad: in the original Superman movie, Jor-El (Superman's Kryptonian father) was played by Marlon Brando. So Space Dad was modelled after Marlon Brando... but specifically, he was modelled after how Brando played Don Vito Corleone in the Godfather. :)

Thanks for a very entertaining reaction! About the theory that Metroman chose music when he retired from superheroism because it's the only thing he wasn't instantly perfect at. I second it, but I think music also has a sentimental value to him, closer to his heart than simple logic. If y'all recall, he was already playing guitar to his teacher and fellow classmates as a kid in shool. Sorry, I meant school.
