This was honestly one of the most informative and helpful videos about what to expect postpartum! Currently 37 weeks and I feel like all postpartum videos say the same things but this was awesome! Thank you!!

Yup they all say to "sleep now while you can" which isn't helpful at all because I've always had insomnia and pregnancy ofcourse made that worse. It gets soooo irritating hearing that lol Also "prep meals on advance" but grocery stores are already like 70% premade meals 🤷🏻♀️

It's so true Megan - I gave birth for the first time in September, and oh how I wish I had known what to expect after birth. I feel like we get perfectly prepared for pregnancy and birth, but no one tells you about postpartum which feels way harder than pregnancy.

I don't remember having night sweats during post partum. I had a c-section and a week later another surgery due to internal bleeding so my recovery was really difficult and long. For workout I needed about a year. For intimacy, however, I felt ready even before the 6 weeks period, which surprised me a lot. It was the last thing I thought I'd be feeling a need for. After being cleared, another surprise was that there was no pain during those moments.

39 weeks today so this was definitely helpful! I chuckled when you said "discharged after 36 hours" because the birthing center sends us home after 4 hours 😅 But the midwives do home visits everyday for 10 days and then every 3 days, and then every week... It's different in every country (I'm in Germany) but I can definitely recommend a midwife for any expecting mama! The earlier in the pregnancy the better 😊

I am currently expecting my first baby (In Canada) so this was so helpful 😊 I am also seeing a midwife, and I will have at least 6 follow-up appointements! I believe they do home visit on days 1, 3, and 7 after birth, and then appointments at 2, 4, and 6 weeks (if I remember correctly - pregnancy brain lol)

I'm already getting night sweats at 37 weeks, not sure why. It's October in Canada and I'm sleeping with the window open and am waking up super sweaty. Can't wait for more after baby is born! lol

Definitely doing the deed for the first time is painful I said it almost feels like I'm doing it for the very first time again haha. I will say after my 2nd kid it didnt hurt as bad as after I had my first. Wonder if its cuz its been thru it before so your lady parts are like oh been there done that already lol

i don’t know what to say but being intimate after i had our son is even more pleasurable for me now 😅 i often joke and tell my husband that when the baby was born things must’ve got rearranged in there cause now i feel all that much more pleasure and am able to “peak” faster. It took us a long time before returning to the physical intimacy though, 6 months actually for medical reasons on both of us, for me it took 4 months before my stitches finally dissolved and my body fully healed (long story) which had made me nervous to do anything before then, while my husband had thyroid issues that left him exhausted by mid day, and with a newborn to care for sex was the last thing on our minds. But once we finally did it it was amazing in every way, especially that feeling of reconnecting with your most loved one. When my husband asked how it was for me postpartum my reply was “how soon can we have a re-do?” 😆 All this to say don’t rush back into it, take your time or do other things if intercourse isn’t comfortable yet, and when things are truly ready it’ll be wonderful again 😊

Idea for your "what I wish I had known" series: What you wish you had known about having a baby in a pandemic. Covid is going to be affecting us for a long time, especially in countries that aren't managing it well, and if I were on that journey, I'd be frantically searching from resources from other people who've been through that crazy experience. I bet most of the tips out there are "gather your loved ones around you, have lots of amazing people, go to classes" etc Edit: YOU ONLY GET ONE FOLLOW UP APPOINTMENT?!!!! God my friend had a follow up appointment recently and her kid has just turned 2. The total lack of maternity leave is diabolical too :( And god none of it is even free there ..... [screaming]
@StephanieHajal4 жыл бұрын
Rebecca Hurford That is such a good idea! I had my baby mid-pandemic, (5.28.20), so I’d love to create a video on that topic to help other moms & dads on my channel😊

no and in case you were wondering if things are left “wider” after having a baby that’s not true either, just a dumb urban myth, in fact, for me things feel even more awesome during intimacy now 😊 the body only needs some time to heal and return to normal ❤️
