@@whyinds there were times when I only needed like fifteen seconds of footage but ended up recording like an hour’s worth just because there was so much to do lol (ex. “Oh if I need Reimu Yukari dialogue, maybe I’ll do my full Yukari solo run!”)

I also like the small details on the game like Youmu's human bar only going up to 50%, being able to choose the ending after multiple playthroughs, and being able to save "time" by beating the boss's special spell card, helping you on the very final spell cards if you tend to screw up there. It just all comes together to make the game much more fun and interesting, and I'm still surprised how much zun was able to fit!

I've always seen Touhou 8 as the magnum opus of Touhou as a series. Even though Touhou 9 is my favorite Touhou game for it's multiplayer aspect, Touhou 8 is the perfect Touhou experience in my eyes (and is my 2nd favorite Touhou game).

IN for me was incredibly atmospheric. The stakes weren't incredibly high but the people we were dealing with were extremely powerful, their music themes reflect that.

I love Yuyuko and Youmu's _Manzai_ dynamic, especially considering the fact that they aren't even trying to be funny, they just bounce off each other really well. Keine: "What is your purpose here?" Youmu: "To restore this abnormal moon to normal." Yuyuko: "No, no Youmu." Youmu: "Wh...?" Yuyuko: "We're having our fill of a wonderful nighttime sightseeing tour!" Keine: "You two are really way too suspicious. Although phantoms are suspicious at the best of times." Youmu: "Wait! I can't just let you say that. Phantoms aren't suspicious!" Yuyuko: "No, No--" Youmu: "Shut up." Edit: Lol, he ended up using the same example in the video. Sorry about that.

I couldn't agree more. IN is *my* personal favorite of the mainline Touhou games, but one reason for me that you glossed over a little is it's also due to ZUN expanding the lore behind it through SSiB and CiLR. Far as I'm aware, he didn't put that much effort into fleshing out the story like that for most other games in the series.

Crazy to think we're how many dozen of games in this franchise and yet IN was designed as a kind of last hurrah, celebrating all of the franchise in one grand ambitious display. This is my favourite Touhou game because it just does everything amazingly, music, characters, gameplay, this game is amazing. And it's telling how appealing this is to such a wide audience, like obviously there's how many references it has for old players, including those of PC-98 but I'm surprised how much this game clicks if you're a relative newcomer. I'm pretty sure it was IN lore that got me to actually try playing the games (I thought Mokou's design, music and story were super cool), I started with the windows games in order and IN was defo the point where I came to appreciate what the franchise offered (this was around LolK era, ironically enough). Also I don't know this for certain (so pls correct me if I'm being silly) but isn't this the first time Theme of Eastern story is explicitly included in the opening? I know EoSD kind of has it at the beginning of it's theme, I'm less familiar with PCB or Pc-98 stuff. If it is that's another cool detail considering it ended up being cut from the very first game and is only included as an extra. If not, well it's nice of ZUN to have (almost) ended with a defining theme he hadn't originally used.

Every mainline touhou title theme (no decimals) has ToES in it in some variety, and eosd title is entirely ToES that starts as a faster version before slowing down the melody but keeping the tempo, and pcb title transitions to ToES and ends with it

While my first touhou game wasn't IN, it was my first 1cc, and lunatic 1cc! Everything about this game is amazing, and you could tell ZUN wanted to go out with a bang just by listening to the last word theme music. This game holds a place in my heart it was so incredible playing it. Happy imperishable night.

Touhou 8 is my first introduction to Touhou danmaku games. I already know Touhou fanmade things for quite awhile but never touched the main game. And I think choosing Touhou 8 as a first start is a very good choice as it left a remarkable impression to me that brought deeper to the rabbit hole. Even till this day Touhou 8 gameplay, musics, characters and lore were still my favorite. My favorite Touhou game of all time, Touhou 8 and Touhou 15. Maybe I love rabbit and moon theme too much lol

IN literally has Mokou, one of, if not my favorite character in all of Touhou's entire existence. When I was voting for favorite characters in the TohoVote website, my comments about each character were way too big for the character limit, and I'm sure Mokou had the biggest wall of text ever. I'm pretty sure that even if Touhou 8 was ZUN's actual last solo Touhou game, most of its characters would remain fleshed out enough to be great characters, including Mokou, Eirin, Reisen and Kaguya (even if I personally don't like the latter, I'll admit she has quite the cool backstory). After my first IN 1cc with the Netherworld Team, all the other 1cc runs somehow became easier. Maybe it's because IN is already a naturally easier game. Maybe because I was extra motivated now that I had thee runs done. I'm sure it's a combination of all above. I love Touhou 8.

Back in mid-2007 I went onto someone's profile page (back when the Internet let people actually customise the HTML and stuff on their profile pages, before algorithms and infinite scrolling) on a music website, and among stuff about their favourite bands they simply put 'Mokou is my waifu'. 'Who's Mokou?' I thought. And then I found out. Even then it seemed like Touhou was such a huge, longstanding series, despite it being later that year I got to see the latest entry in the story, all about a new shrine maiden starting a rivalry with Reimu... anyway, I suppose that shows Mokou can pull people into the fan community much like Flandre or Koishi (what is it with Extra Stage bosses?); just remember there was a time when being a Mokou fan was like someone saying 'Chimata is my waifu' today!

From the game I hated the most to the one I played the most, I still don't find IN the easiest game and SA is still my personal all time favorite because I find it the most fair and balanced touhou game, the game doesn't have any major exploit and the life system of SA is my favorite and I wish all the games had the same system, the shots are really fun to use (Except for Marisa C and Reimu B) and tho it has a lot of safe spots you can't really beat the game whitout giving a single f*ck, when you look at games like LoLK where Sanae and Reisen can break the game on legacy mode, WBaWC have the animal spirits that can make the game a joke, HSiFS have Aya, you can spam bombs like crazy on MOF or use Marisa glitch, DDC gives you a shit ton of lives/bombs and Marisa B is busted if used correctly, UM have the cards, I don't like UFO because of the RNG, SA 4ever and Okuu best girl
