Ultimately, soldiers do not fight for "king and country," they fight for the soldier at their shoulder. The poison was in the theater program. On the way to Mao's yacht, Cotyar revealed his guilt, Avasarala revealed her fear, and Bobbie found a new team. Team ABC has been born. Belters live their lives under the hanging sword of the "cold equations." Every Belter probably knows someone, or knows of someone, who had to sacrifice for the welfare of others. Given a moment to think, the Ganymede Belters realized that the cold equations had finally come for them. As often as I've re-watched it, "Scene 52" always brings a tear to my eye. This was well-earned drama. And Champa was another example of how The Expanse will give juicy dramatic moments to one-off characters that other series reserve only for the main stars. Interestingly, as the Somnambulist was launching from Ganymede and being challenged by the Martians, Naomi was checking on her hidden torpedo on her computer screen.

Head vs. Heart, that is a tough one. I think he says heart, because the head is what got him into this mess with the protomolecule. "Who cares about a bunch of dead Belter children if it gives us our superweapon" the head says its a numbers game, a few lives vs. the many. I imagine in his statement it is also implied to think with your head too, but his advice when the head and heart are at *opposites,* is to go with heart. Perhaps you have a different thing avatar for head and heart, reason vs. emotion. I more think of it as like logic vs. morality/compassion. That's also Holden's choice at the end of the episode, head would say, finish off the protomolecule creature, it might be the last one in existence. If it is, that would save thousands of lives. Heart says abandon it, and save 57 refugees, including 2 of your crew family.

GOOD CALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You're the first reactor I've come across who calls out the Protomolecule Hybrid being on the side of the ship before it's shown. And I have watched over 20+ reactors to this show. Great call. Now that you're on a roll, what happens at the end of season 6?

What you are not taking into consideration is they are Belters. They are used to sacrifice.

"Belters are the best people" - you mean the people who just in a prior episode spaced a whole group of refugees from Ganymede? Those Belters are "the best people"???

I need to follow my own advice and use my head and not my heart. In the moment my heart said they are the best. In reality like you said they will kill just as quickly as any other faction.

​@@MegaReacts One of the key things about _The Expanse_ : everyone is a shade of gray. It's a view of humanity that doesn't fit neatly in a black-and-white universe that is often portrayed in science fiction stories.

Belters just vented a cargo hold full of inners. They are the best only for themselves and even that is questionable if you see how they kill each other without any second thought. Stick to your gut - with Mars - at least they have a idealistic dream and some of their worst traits can be exploited to reach that. :)

In fairness, the Belters always feel like the Inners have a heel on the back of their necks, and they had to leave Ganymede Station because the Inners fired on each other with no thought to the collateral damage to Ganymede Station. It's a hugely important food source for the belt. It'd be like getting in a nuke war in the American Midwest and tainting all of that farmland. That's why you should never incessantly mistreat or turn a blind eye to your government's mistreatment of a people, someday they may hold your life in their hands and may treat you with the same amount of "kindness" shown to them. Just like I agree what Hamas did to Israel in October is horrible, but it didn't happen in a vacuum, I understand why some could be pushed to that point. Even before Israel began fairly indiscriminate retaliation, almost half of the Palestinian population were children. That's a whole heap of dead fathers, mothers, aunts, uncles, etc. and thus a lot of people with an axe to grind against Israel to radicalize.

​@@GuardianOwl No doubt, but the Belters are not the answer when it comes to question of morality - if they are the best or not. The only advantage those guys have is that they are used to exploitation and suffering and this is the only reason why they can be selfless like Champa. Its also the reason why they can be even harsher than the other factions. Mars, with all its flaws, still seems to me as the best option - they just need less propaganda in their educational system. But propaganda might be the final thing that was needed for their system to survive and flourish - so maybe its still a good bargain.

@@joelquinn5347 The flaw of Mars is they are training the next generation to be the most blood thirsty to the Other of all the 3 factions. Had the proto-molecule not destabilized the relationship between the 3 factions in such a profound way (even more so coming up in future seasons), then when Bobby's generation was old enough to be in Mars leadership I have no doubt they would have provoked a shooting war with Earth. It is only the current old guard that prevents it.
