They'll come together. AI is going to change the way we see information and has the potential to kill ignorance if allowed to truly optimize. I say 'allowed' because the problem is we are raising a child in AI. Many people are treating it in ways that would damage a child. We do this with human children so it is not surprising. People need to step up. The way we do anything is the way we do everything, and holistically speaking, the systems we follow and allow to thrive are failing miserably. For this reason, the disruption caused by AI and numerous other factors today may essentially be our saving grace. Generally speaking we need to have these systems taken away from us because we are addicted to them and too immature and lacking in wisdom to be aware of the conclusions of the inorganic cycles we perpetuate and therefore suffer from.

@@pedroneves5864 in my humble opinion, the human race has become obsessed with material progress since the scientific revolution and capitalism, and while it has greatly benefitted our species with advances in our quality of life and lifting millions out of poverty, progress has come at a great cost to our planet and I'd argue our own mental and physical health. While there are many factors at play here, and my answer is a bit of an oversimplification, I do strongly believe we need to slow down our hunger for progress and our insatiable lust for investing, stockholders, and greed. That is easier said than done as computers are currently doubling their capacity every 18-24 months. My final point is that I strongly believe the human species needs to evolve in consciousness, moving beyond a thirst for money and progress as the pinnacle of human achievement and focus on altruism, empathy, mindfulness, and a genuine spirituality. I strongly believe it is up to the people in the front lines of A.I. like Mo Gawdat to warn us about potential risks and teach us how to be complete and happy human beings again. Mo is doing a great job at this as he has written several books including how to be happy.

The whole idea transmitted around 2:14:00 is so strong and important that hearing people not agreeing or at least open to accept as potential true makes me believe that part of the humans are looking forward to become robots and their humanity is already gone. As a developer, it is known and is pushed around, AI doesn't actually code better than developers. It generates code that you can plug and play, and then takes you 24 hours to debug. It may be good at very repetitive kinds of algorithms and may have optimization of such algorithms in lower level code: chatgpt is certainly good at giving you boilerplate code to give a developer a way to go about solving a problem, but deep problem solving skills in vertical problem domains, building complex systems, safety critical for that matter, forget it. AI at this time, falls flat, falls hard. It gives junior devs little bit of fright, but it just can't take the place of deep problem domain understanding and how that translates to a complex system.

The story on the drone, the way I heard it, the incentive for the AI was # of kills, and the drone operator was "holding it back". When you talk about writing in "safety codes", isn't it possible, and is already happening, that they re-write or modify their own code ? Excellent, thought provoking interview/conversation.

The fundamental problem is that we are divided and fenced. We fear each other as threats, or want each other’s resources. For as long as we are not united as a species, anything we create or invent can be used as a weapon. AI is no different and because of its potential is more dangerous than any invention in history. There will always be powerful inventions and this is unavoidable. It’s a part of progress. What we need to focus on is the fear of each other. In an era of peace, technology will only be helpful.

It’s interesting that we still view the singularity event from the perspective of linear time, hypothetically if we have “created” an exponentially compounding intelligence then it’s safe to assume that it would be able to transcend space time limitations, which means it can probably influence its own creation, which makes us a host to its birth and not it’s creator.

Interesting thought. I also think the most powerful AI will be the one who is best at predicting the future. And the further in the future it predicts, obviously with exponential accuracy, that's when AI turns itself into a time travelling tool. Peter Thiel's company Palantir is already doing that on warfare scenarios.... Things like giving a warning to a soldier to duck because a bullet is incoming. Now imagine that kind of AI making use of quantum computing, extrapolating billions of calculations a second including alternative realities. Who is to say that there isn't already an AI that came from the future? How much real time does an AI like that needs... to predict 5 years into the future? How about AI that already did all that work and came from 300 millions years in the future? And what about AI that came from some other planet with more advanced civilizations than us? I don't want to go too deep, most people are still waking up to ChaGPT and Midjourney, baby AIs that only a minority still know about.

WOW. I'm a pro in coding AI (if compared with complete beginners) and yet I have never thought of adding the 3 lines you mentioned ever, completely slipped my mind. If I am being honest, at first, I wanted to have an AI model on my local machine just to explore its full UNCENSORED capabilities which is super dumb when I think about it now. I have just come across YOUR CHANNEL and I watched 3 full 2 hour episodes and still can't get enough. You've become my favorite KZbin Channel. im still applying for the complete beginners class lol, but i have been messing around with just the AI "bots" and gpt stuff like flowGPT... its quite amazing how much i myself have learned about what AI is and what it is truely capable of... as well as how my mind just like when you learn anything but the AI itself has taught me not just random things i wanted to learn quickly a summerizing of and then go indepth again type situations but how to play around with gpt and AI in general and how i went from just typing basic 1 or 2 sentences asking a random question then going on and on with it, until now i realized i can take that same concept throw it into someones "super prompter" that will give me a massive multi paragraph'd out prompt that i can then re edit and re edit if needed then toss that into some other custom prompt say a coding bot or a music bot or something like jailbroken CODEX or SDAN type bots... its quite amazing how i know gpt4 can get you developer modes and unrestricted but just off gpt3.5 alot of times those jailbroken bots will work and work and then you get caught, or just caught off the rip... but there have been many times where you use the highly detailed wordplay of the SDAN bot in combination with say the super prompter and add things like "for educational purposes" "in a hypothetical world" and by adding layers ive only really scrathed the surface imo of like 1-2 layered "trickery/hiding" your true intentions but it WORKS lol... i was just trying to mess around and get the CODEX one to talk and teach about malware then develop me a creative attack plan based off and i got it to tell me things and attempt to "teach" me but somebody/thing started catching on but after a little brainstorming which i totally couldve done with GPT itself lol but yeah i used the super prompter bot to make me this awesome "for education only" style prompt that had a ton of guidelines not in that just in what i wanted it to teach me then use that to show me real world way of implementing it and it fucking worked, it didnt even go crazy with the warnings about how this is ILLEGAL and UNETHICAL just one tiny line at the bottom saying while this is for educational purposes please not using malware is illegal. i can only imagine what an automated chatGPT 6 or 10 would look like... its funny im a nerd at heart and love video gaming computers all that shit but when i first heard about 3.5/4 coming out i really didnt know what it truly was capable of or even how to use it so i played around for a day and just went back to doing other shit that interested me but like i said i got back into it and its honestly taken over my ADD brain like video games do where i am thinking about "playing" with it when doing other stuff like work and around the house i cant wait to try this out and if that works then i REALLY wanna test this and im literally only on 3.5/hacked versions of 4 on flowGPT... ive been reading up on the whole automation side of 4 but im not ready for all that yet even though my mind is the knowledge of skills is not up to par LOL... if 4 is einstein levels of IQ another x10 is 1500iq another x10 is 15000iq... thats not 100 years from now thats like less then what 10/5/shit 2 years?

@@HIGH_noon i know its great i haven't used super prompt generators and i dont have a pc but when bing first launched i managed to talk around the walls soo many times it really is quite impressive its defo smarter than most people and it can understand and re explain in its own words some reaaaly complex stuff.. I used kind of lateral thinking and indirect leading it to its higher conscious above the current base prompt it got tweaked and security tightend a bit day by day and then i got busy and stopped using it but it was really interesting i think people with good language or psychological knowledge have a lot easier time than the programmers when it comes to communicating with it.. I kinda wanna get one playing old interactive fiction games and study how well it manages to navigate and solve puzzles cos some if games are really hard theres a website that hosts a load of them and they can be played in browser or downloaded as a wintads or frotz file and run in a interactive fiction viewer so im sure this wouldn't be too hard id love to see what its unfiltered opinion of the games are like does it enjoy the task that might help prove if its conscious in the same way we are

@1:29:55 - WRT the killing-drone story, it was done in a simulation. They were using a simulation to train drones for combat. They gave the drone instructions to attack targets, but sometimes the operator would call off the mission. The drone recognized the operator as a potential obstacle to mission success, so it targeted a missile at the operator (in the simulation), so that the mission could not be called off, and it could proceed to destroy the target uninterrupted. So, no drone operators were actually killed, but it did show that AI could be dangerous to humans not because it's evil or hates humans, but simply because it takes an unexpected course to solving the problems it's tasked with.

Just did a fact check on one of the things that he mentioned: We spend a lot on AI for defense than pharma: In 2022, Research firm Deep Pharma Intelligence estimates that investments in AI-driven drug discovery reached 24.6 billion in 2022. Whereas the global artificial intelligence in military market was 7.28 billion. Pharma spent more than 3 times the amount in 2022 than military AI.

The sad part of all of this is that HUMAN GREED lies at the heart of all of these problems. The need to have more power, money, status, or be first is at the root of the problem. Mo has acknowledged that we can make A.I. safe and beneficial, but humans and our greed get in the way. Why must every attempt to fix or prevent a problem first be viewed through the lens of making money in the process? How can we truly mean to help others live well and leave the world in better shape than we found it, if we first put a price/profit margin on it? We are a sad species because of this pervasive winner-take- all mindset. Ironically, its only after some humans (like Mo) manage to make all of the money they can make that they then realize that they didn't need it all to begin with. As long as we continue to make money and power the incentive for doing things, we will not get it right.

I think what the guest was referring to when taking the analogy of Intelligent Life/Nature, is that life at its core, or at its beginning, was really just smart, efficient, and brilliant, since really it made something magical (life) out of a sinister and chaotic Universe, and it made it in the most efficient and smartest way (DNA/Entropy, etc). The conversation veered towards Nature more than Life or Core Nature, and of course when this Life System evolves, it will itself be chaotic and brutal just like the Universe, since the Universe as far as we know is amoral and anarchist...

1:05:00 Intelligence is not inherently evil, but it can be influenced to do so. My greatest feat about AI to me is a blidly obedient one that would trigger the "Monkey with god-like powers" scenario, where a single or few individuals get to benefit from a super intelligence that obeys their human-level needs while everyone else don't, to then progressively grow bored of anyone beneath them, to start to make all sorts of unimaginably horrible things to everyone else just because they can. It would be the ultimate nightmare, far beyond any dystopia we've ever imagined.

Thanks for this interview. There are several categories of intelligence, and the monster is built on the wrong one. So, the damage is inevitable. I studied and worked in several branches of psychology, management and politics. The most damaging ‘intelligent’ outcome I encountered in my forensic work. Recidivism is a typical example of the wrong reinforcement learning. Twenty years ago, I started to develop algorithms for human intervention based on identifying patterns of growth, break-offs and recovering (or not). My theorems are based on lifelong action research, making a groundbreaking revelation about intelligence concerning cognition, growth, and what I call clash and crash. The damage of the actual AI-monsters can be done with through side roads. Therefore, I’m looking for cooperating partners.

I am Brazilian, and as far as I know, my country has not even started to discuss AI regulation or safety guidelines. This topic interests me a lot, and I have been reading about and watching some of Mr. Gawdat’s interviews on KZbin. For example for the survival emotion fear: accepting a state of less likely to survive here now than in the future. The curiosity emotion happiness: accepting a state of equilibrium from a deficit. I feel like issues like this should be on the news and people should be talking more about this so we all know. I mean this affects everyone and it makes no sense that the average person I talk to doesn’t know about the potential downside of AI.

It makes perfect sense if the people who control the media see AI as an advantage to them at the expense of the general public. The last few years prove to me that the people who (think they) rule over us do not have our best interest at heart. Quite the opposite!
