There’s just something special of a penultimate villain that’s physically weak and vulnerable and despite that either through cleverness or some form of power is still able to be one of the most dangerous threats and megatron being just a head for almost an entire season fits that bill so well but man things gets so much better now with megatron back as the leader of the decepticons

Animated Optimus is my favorite because we get to see moments like this where he loses his temper or cracks under pressure. He feels like a much more well-rounded character and we get the chance to see him evolve

Megatron's return was SO FREAKING HYPE!!! I LOVE his design too, and how much it resembles his G1 design, but in Derrick J Wyatt's artsyle, which works incredibly well, I also love how he transforms into an attack helicopter, which I wish we saw more of him turn into. The only other show I know that makes him an aircraft is the current Transformers: Earthspark show (another great show).I also love that Megatron in this show is so ruthless that he doesn't hesitate to immediately kill Starscream for what he did to him, which shows how unforgiving and imposing this Megatron truly is. I always wondered why Megatron in Transformers: Prime always kept Starscream alive even though he knew he would betray him again. I love seeing Optimus in this show make mistakes in how he leads and communicates with his team, yet he realises his mistakes and tries to make up for them as any good leader would. Its really great Optimus be a struggling leader and complicated character who may be young but still cares about others and would give his life to save his friends

Yeah we’re so used to Megatron constantly forgiving Starscream’s constant betrayals despite him being very smart and ruthless. Even as a kid I knew this Megatron was a league above the others. Only one that comes close for me is FOC megatron who got resurrected and learned of starscream’s treachery then immediately used his new body to wipe out starscream’s followers then blasted him with his tank cannon but let him run away cuz he’s not worth the time (so we could play as starscream in a later mission).

He saw the footage of Starscream claiming credit for "destroying Megatron" back when Megatron came back online at the beginning of the season. 17:23 "Decepticons, transform and rise up!" This episode introduces the Decepticons' equivalent of "Transform and Roll Out" after 24 years (at the time). And it makes perfect sense, considering that traditionally, most Decepticons can fly. Even after taking that into consideration, the frequent depiction in modern Transformers lore of the Decepticons being - in their own minds, at least - heroic freedom fighters rising up to retake and liberate their rightful homeworld from the tyranny of the oppressive Autobots who have usurped and exiled them from their birthright. Which lends it a certain poetic elegance as well. 17:40 Fun fact: This Megatron's alternate mode is a favorite among fans since it's neither an alien jet nor a tank.

25:28 it's such a sweet detail that Optimus is directly quoting Ratchet from the Lockdown fight. "You like trophies? Have your fill!!" He was paying attention. He has the academy training, but so much of what he learned out in the field was alongside Ratchet. And in the most critical moment, the most dangerous fight he'd ever been in, it was Ratchet's teaching that scored him the win. I fucking love the character work in tfa.

I always loved how you can hear Optimus's engine revving after he yells at Bulkhead and Prowl about hiding the Dinobots XD For Starscream though, he's dead. He did die at one point in the original show, and this show does pull a lot of things from that (as well as various other parts of the franchise). "There's something important I need to tell you." "I love you?" Not necessarily =P

@ReactZones It's also interesting that Megatron put the Allspark in his chest. I guess every Megatron where the Allspark is a exists can do that. Well, maybe not Prime Megatron since he didn't ever have a spark chamber that could open, but the Michael Bay Megatron can, because his body is designed for it. The 2007 video game of the Decepticon campaign, which is a part of the infinite cannon timelines of any Transformers universe, was able to do that. Makes me wonder how powerful he was there. The movies they are solar system level, but the comic book adaptations, other than the prequel comic book (granted the comics are cannon to the live-action movies other than the same name movie title adaptations, but I digress), are outerversial. You would also think Megatron here would get heartburn just like his 2007 variant.

Interesting small detail is that all of the Decepticons are clearly built for war. They're big, they're more armoured and their weapons are noticeably stronger than even the military Autobots. While it's never officially stated in this continuity I don't think, it does seem to be a homeage to the Cybertronian origins in the G1 cartoon, where they were the creations of the Quintessons, with the ancestors of the Autobots being domestic or labour machines, while the Decepticon ancestors were combat robots meant to conduct conquest for their masters or fight for their entertainment. Modern Cybertronians forgot the share rebellion they had against their cruel creators. The stark difference between the Autobots and the Decepticons in this series is way too similar to that concept to be a coincidence imo. Also Sumdak messing with Megatron's stabilisers is a reference to a rather funny scene in G1. "My Equilibrilum! Destabilised!"

I know and this episode was also Inspired Transformers: Rise of the Beasts where both are tell about when Optimus Prime want Transwarp Key but different reason, Optimus Prime in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts because he distrust the Humans, thinking Humans fight for they want and want Autobot except Mirage go home to Cybertron while Optimus Prime in Episode Megatron Rising thinking Transwarp Key wasn't save with Sari Sumdac and order Ratchet take it, made Sari sad, later two was realized about how they're selfish, after Airazor who brainwashed killed by Optimus Primal and Scourge with Battletrap and Nightbird got the Transwarp Key open portal bring Unicron devour Earth Optimus Prime realized his mistake, said Noah Diaz they same motives fight for their home and finally with Autobot and Maximals fight Terrorcons while Optimus Prime in Episode Megatron Rising was realized BumbleBee is right he doesn't deserve to lead his group after failed convinced Dinobot while Megatron's loyal minions Lugnut and Blitzwing was take Transwarp Key upgrade Megatron made him defeat enemies even killing Starscream for his betrayal.

I’m still giving it to TFP Megatron. Animated Optimus is an academy flunky (still love him but he’s not at the highest skill level). TFP Optimus is basically the reincarnation of a God.
