Damn, this is a good video. Good shit to you for trying to move past your vices and finding some amount catharsis through comics. Keep up the good work. Also, this comic looks awesome. It’s got transgressive humor, an appealing crumb-esque crudeness to the art, and comes the perspective of an LGBTQ+ individual. A group of people I’m trying to find more works from.

I came from your Hitman retrospective and started checking out your other videos. I think I first saw this on 4 Chan. The art shows you don’t have to draw manga or be Jim Lee levels of good to make an interesting comic.

Bad Gateway is probably my favorite in the series. One scene that has stuck with me was when meg decides to pawn her roller blades for some drug money and later realizes how fucked things have gotten since she was a girl. When this comic gets low, it gets really emotional and depressing, and simon hanselmann has found a way for these cartoon characters to really come to life. Just brilliant.

Might be an unpopular opinion but I really don't like this comic. I can tell why people love it, but for me the jumps between comedy and drama are way too jarring and not helped by lack of chronology. EDIT: I think the only one I liked was Crisis Zone tbh

That’s a fair assessment, I do think Hanselmann’s work could use a more linear, cohesive timeline and should reign it in sometimes. I just have a personal attachment to the material, so I feel differently.

@@THEMANGALOG Anyone with Hanselmann's level of productivity, talent and ability to depict a very dark part of today's society should be applauded, but I honestly kept feeling bad for Owl and cheering whenever the other guys got hurt, because I really couldn't stand them. That being said I did like Crisis Zone quite a lot.
