Not too much riviera orchard going on these days with the fires in California. As a Canadian whose parts of her country went up in these horrific fires (Fort MacMurray, Alberta, and part of British Columbia and other northern regions) I want to sympathize and pray for all Americans affected by the current apocalypse. Many of my staff used to greet me with a hug in the morning. But I never made the first move on them. I respected their space knowing that different people have different boundaries. Similarly at the various Aged Care facilities that I managed for 30 years, as a nurse (for 52 years) it is common for us to touch patients in sympathy, pain, fear etc but with elderly residents I never pushed, took hugging very slowly. Many of them made the move to hug me looking for the same comfort. it is imperative to know cultures, aged life experiences before pushing one's face into another's
