@nanabutner9 минут бұрын
Not necessarily-- I had an amazing 4th grade(4year) teacher who collected money from each student every week for most of the school year so we all could go out one evening to a fancy resturant for a four course meal. We were taught how to properly set a table, how far the plate and silverware should be from the edge of the table, what plates went where, to start from the outside of your silverware and work your way towards the large plate, how to unfold and use your napkin properly, how to pull out a chair for a female and seat them at the table, what course came first, etc. On the night of the dinner we all dressed up and went to the resturant and had a wonderful time. That happened in 1961 and I still remember those lessons and have used them my whole life so sometimes special lessons taught at school are worth learning!

Brushing teeth daily wasn't taught to us at home because it wasn't something in their home. It doesn't hurt to teach health & hygiene at school to cover the gaps in the parents knowledge or teachings. I'm 66 & in those days it was like they will all just have dentures, so why bother with oral hygiene. The government had to change that attitude of dentists, showing how maintaining oral hygiene was still profitable to dentists. Regular visits to the dentist & cleanings meant dentists were still well needed. I'm all for those classes in schools.
@Cristine-mb4fr19 минут бұрын
Sorry you didn’t have parents who taught you the basics of hygiene,but seriously theses days with woke ( whatever that means ) teachers inspecting lunch boxes, discussing different genders with 6-7 years old children. Friend of mine took her son out of a primary school because he and many others were upset by teachers. It’s time parents stopped giving young toddlers mobiles to amuse themselves and taught them to do the basics as Neil said. My grandparents,aunt taught me to read,write before age 4 and my daughter ,who also enjoys reading could add up basic arithmetic, talked in French,Spanish to friends children from a young age.
