One of my self care and self compassion practices that I encourage is to have a favourite photo of yourself as a young child. Ask yourself “What does that little girl need from me? What do I need to do to take care of her.” That little girl always deserves good care. Good food. Good sleep. Fresh air. Exercise. Love. Would you send her out without breakfast? Would you make her stay up late to do her homework? Treat her well. She is precious.

1- Tune in: ask urself what u need right now. Stop and take a moment and listen to urself. Align ur actions with ur needs. 2- practice self compassion: treat urself with care and kindness. Imagine urself as a child or a depressed friend and do things to urself what you would do for that baby and/or friend. Place ur hand on ur heart and feel self compassion. 3- Make yourself a nourishing meal. Make sure u r eating not only enough fiber, protein and carbs but also that the taste is satisfying. 4- Eat something u want without guilt. Enjoy cheat parts in healthy eating. 5- Eat mindfully: fully experience your food. Intuitive eating. Listen to ur body. Enjoy your meal. 6- Tune with your morning ritual: let it be a skincare or morning drink. Fully immerse in it 7- Stop weighing yourself: stop associating it with healthiness. Consider enough sleep, energy through the day, water intake, how you feel physically after a meal, stress management etc as health. 8- Hydrate: 8 cups of water daily! 9- Stay close to nature 10- Move your body in a way that makes you feel good: stick to a satisfying exercise routine let it be dancing and/or skipping rope. 11- Take ten deep breathes 12- Slow down your bed time routine: don't rush up thing like skin care and/or brushing 13- Take a slow, mindful shower whether at night and/or in the morning: don't rush things. Don't over think scenarios. 14- Schedule the Me-Time: do journalling, reading, or doing nothing 15- Reflect on what is most important to you: Set A-side a few minutes to think why they are important to you and how you can slowly add those things into your life. What are the barriers and how to avoid/beat them. 16- Express three things that you are grateful for. Write why you are grateful. 17- Tidy a space: a particular area daily. Organize it. 18- Do hygienic things that make u happy: like shaving, doing nails, hair cut, and/or invest in things like undergarments and/or clothes. 19- Nurture your relationships: have healthy relationships. Healthy communication whether by texting and/or calling. 20- Create a healthy social media environment: follow positive accounts and unfollow that bring self-doubt. 21- Disconnect from the screens: turn gadgets off for a while such as an hour in the evening 22- Question your beliefs and fears: think why you cannot do it and find brave solutions. 23- Think what things are "sources" of stress: and find solutions to deal with them. 24- Set boundaries for yourself: know your limits, what doesn't align with your values and when to say no. 25- Listen to your intuition: inner wisdom. Learn to listen to it.

I’m 20 yo and spent most of those years having horrible habits Depression and anxiety didn’t help Now I’m trying to change and there are a few simple things that have been making me feel better and happier - cleaning ( yeah I feel really good after cleaning the whole house 😂 ) - exercising first thing in the morning - eating healthy food (spent years only having pizza everyday) - a spa day, when I stop for a few hours to take care of my skin and hair etc 🥰

#7. Stop weighing yourself. I haven't done this for years but as you were talking I did think of how I use external measurements to measure my worth and success. This principle can be expanded so much if we stop weighing our body and value by mesurements that don't work. Thank you for a lovely video and insights.

Selfcare for me is drinking a cup of tea in the morning and writing in my journal. For me it means to be aware of my feelings an needs, to allow my feelings to be there and to prioritize my needs over all daily tasks. And I love taking the time for doing yoga and meditating. But of course, this doesn't have to be daily. Thank you for this inspiring video, Meghan! ♥

Love your stuff Meghan. Journaling is BIG for me. I also wanted to add that I’ve just recently started using the mute button on my phone when I feel the need. When I don’t want to be disturbed. When I’m feeling pulled in different directions or feeling like everyone wants something from me. Sometimes I just want to sit and JUST BE. It’s been great. It’s like - HELLO, There’s a mute button for a reason! It’s really made a big difference for me. It’s freeing. I feel less pressure. Thank you for what you do.

You mention doing things with friends and family a lot. I gather you have a meaningful circle of friends and that is fortunate. Friends and family members are the source of distress for a fair number of people. Please recognize however that many people who lack self care and self compassion do not have friends or family. They don’t get emotional nourishment from relationships since they don’t have any. Please (if you are) buy into any illusion that everyone has friends, family and relationships. A large number don’t. There is a tendency among some to want to believe that everyone lives a happy fulfilled life because it’s kind of taboo to talk about or even acknowledge that life isnt a television show, life isn’t what is happening in happy songs or pretty magazines…for many. And that’s a reality, not an opinion. Your video is teaching people to be kind to themselves because their lives lack it. So I think you definitely get it. Big hugs to you. Thank you for the video.

I think when people recommend 'spend some time outside in nature' ....we now, sadly, need to qualify it with the recommendation to NOT be on the cell phone while on a walk or being out in nature. I am so surprised when I go for a walk in a gorgeous park and people are walking around , sometimes even having really heated conversations on the phone. It's so common now.
