The George Taylor head sculpt reminds me of Charlton Heston. I would love a George Taylor figure in his astronaut uniform!! I have been waiting to see one for over 25 years!

Really really nice head sculpts that resemble the actors from the film, just done with a lot of care to attention and detail. Like you mentioned, the body as well is definitely a step up. Mego is well and truly back, and the toy world is all the better for it. Fabulous video as always, Brian, you really know your stuff, and how to engage with / draw the audience in every time. Very glad I discovered your videos a few years ago, they've been so entertaining to watch, so thanks again for all your hard work.

Your excitement for this line keeps me enthused and interested. I’ve liked everything except the exclusives (especially Zira). Like you, I plan on getting multiple astronaut suits to share with Brent, Virdon and Burke (maybe Jones, too… ha ha ha).

I have the Topps versions as well as a few customs of these 2 characters. I was always so disappointed as a kid that they were never included in the line..Looking back I understand now that securing permission to do a likeness of Heston would have probably been cost prohibitive in the 70s, They could have gone with a generic 'bearded adventurer' head and called him Taylor, but we got what we got and loved it at the time. Now they are here as well as Mendez. It's a good time to be a Classic POTA fan. Great review!

@@BrickMantooth Why doesn't Mego do more female characters? They also need to change back to the 70's style Mego female body. They do a great job with the male head sculpts...but the women look awful...that 8 inch Wonder Woman was horrible looking...but Superman and Batman were great.

The Brent sculpt is outstanding. He looks perfect in his ANSA suit but his head looks too small in his "rags" version. I hope they make the spaceship. Taylor is great too. I would love to see a Gorilla Solider closer to the films and URKO! URKO! URKO!!!

I just picked up a Pota-Chuck, nice to see him in Mego form finally, great sculpt. Was kind of hoping to get something bandless but as you say batch tooling, maybe the next one. Really enjoying the Pota figures. ;) Not to sidetrack but I got Worf and his forehead is light, really hope they are nipping that in the bud, saw another McCoy at the same store that looked like Dracula got him lol. :\

The figures are sensational. As a MOC collector I just wish Mego would pay closer attention to the packaging to avoid so many mistakes and inconsistencies. If I was an ‘ opener’ I’d put slave Brent’s outfit on backwards just so it didn’t look the same as Taylor’s. Nice cameo of Dr Zorma btw 😉

I picked up a European Exclusive Mego George Taylor in Astronaut costume, that is limited to 1000 units, which I'm keeping " mint on card " but unfortunately neither of the Brent figures, nor the loincloth version of Taylor are available in the UK at the moment. But they are all fantastic Mego Planet Of The Apes action figures, that I would like to own in my collection.

@@BrickMantooth It is exactly the same figure / packaging as your Mego George Taylor in astronaut costume, but to sell it over here in the UK, they have put a giant, gold sticker on the plastic bubble, with the words European Exclusive, Limited to 1000 Units and then a number from 1 - 1000.

Back in the day (at least in my area) the original astronaut figures never seemed to say long in stores or even show up in yard sales. Which is funny, since it being so generic and disconnected from the movies I'd think it wouldn't be too sought after. If this or any generic white astronaut uniforms had shown up they'd have been completely sold out instantly. I think its why so many Evel Knievels were forced to become stand ins. I mean it was back when so many of us still wanted to grow up and be NASA astronauts. Great video, great modern line.

I have wave 15 Taylor. Yup he's perfect. And I couldn't wait. I got a Bruce Wayne suit and put it on a Cornelius. Also I put Cornelius's clothes on a Ceaser so now I have Battle For The Planet Of The Apes Ceaser!

Another cool video and these two look great and I hope they continue with this line and handle it the way they are doing it. What is cool about this set if you buy 2 of each and change the outfits on one set then you will have Topps exclusives for less money too. I know in the next 10 years the dishonest Ebay sellers will do this and try to push the value on these 2.

The only reason the bandless body works is franciscus was much shorter than Heston. Glad Taylor had old body bc it wouldve been wrong to make him shorter than zira as Brent is. I wish the Ansa jacket opened in the front, but glad the Taylor on old body bc brents suit is too small to use on older megos. I bought 5 of Brent topps, will probably sell extras and buy more Taylors for custom.

Cool review. Was that an Omega Man Heston? If so where did you get that. Heston to me is Planet of the apes. Without him a B movie. These new ones senseless violence IMO. And crappy video game CGI. Can't act so just make a bunch of grunting apes beating up idiots lol.
