For the money, you can go with Meguiars. For overall versatility, I would go with beadmaker. To waste money, I would go with Adams. Adams makes good products, but I feel the price is not always commensurate with the overall quality.

I would agree for versatility the Meguiars is the best but I would say the p&s you get more for your buck at 30 a gallon vs 15 for 26 oz, if you were to buy 2 megs you would have 52oz or product for the same price you could get 128oz of beadmaker

How about the longevity vs price per ounce? You may get more per ounce with Beadmaker but if you're applying it twice as often it may be a marginal difference at best. Just food for thought

strictly amateur here, and whapping great holes in even basic chemistry everything I know is third hand info or stuff I learnt from testing homebrew wax durability, but its hard to test these products we dont have too many things to look at. water behaviour we observe from the product can be effected by what we put on top, and some of these detergents will cling as well, the ones that cling are the ones that also give the hydrophillic effect. IPA and water is a good one also as long as its not freezing cold and it can flash away, give it ten mins or something. the BM product withstood ten hits of alkaline cleaner (was given 24 hour cure due to cold weather) 2 months later its on the test panel still but its very close to dead. no spray sealant I have ever seen though will be killed from one hit of APC and water.

@@Malborex Actually, Optimum will tell you it leaves its polymer behind that makes future cleaning easier. I've seen it first hand. I'm not sure how tenacious it bonds but its there. Hey Pan ... you finally did the comparison against your 1st favourite (bead maker) vs. 2nd favourite (hybrid ceramic)! It would have been a *bonus* to see the effects on other areas like glass /plastic/ wheel rims. Love the way you had the 3 logos showing for consistency. While no one would go to the extreme of those harsh chemicals, it would prove that taking it in to a car wash would have similar effect during the lazy days of not washing your car 🚘. So Pan, for next comparison, could you extend the blue tape to the glass and other areas to test if possible? For an extra challenge, would you consider comparing the lower costs products vs.higher ones? (Sonax/Polish Angel or European vs. American brands) I think the bead maker is great for those who can maintain it on a monthly basis. Meguiars is the best bang for the buck. Adams a bit pricey for so called premium product. I guess time will tell. For each one it depends demographically where you live. On the west coast we get a lot of rain 🌧, and I would luv to try the bead maker. There are many detailing videos on KZbin, but only yours is considered as the Wikidetailpedia as far as I know ☺️ Thank you Pan!

The paint is still oxidised, which will stop the products bonding. Even a quick hand polish with some sort of cleanser product before the IPA wide would have massively improved the performance of all of these. I'd also bet that the APC and degreaser are not being totally removed with that rinse alone, and are masking the protection. If you washed with something like carpro reset the performance would largely come back I'm sure.
@PanTheOrganizer
@PanTheOrganizer 5 жыл бұрын
Hi. Thanks for the constructive criticism. And thanks for being polite about how you wrote. I want to remind people that this was my first "VS" comparison test and I am human. I wanted to make sure I covered all the bases in making sure we test the same panel, on a daily driven car with imperfections, on the same day, with appropriate curing times, a decontaminated and IPA'd panel, etc. Upon reading some comments, I will make the following adjustments in a next test: - make sure the panel is also polished to remove any oxidation that might interfere with the products bonding - make sure that I wash the panel with a pH neutral soap and then rinse to make sure I remove any residue from the chemicals that might be masking the protectant We all learn and I am open to constructive criticism. But regardless of their durability, I would still recommend a proper ceramic coating application as a base layer, and use these three products as "toppers" during maintenance washes, to boost the coating's performance and extent its durability, plus add gloss and slickness to the paint.
@TimMSUK

@@PanTheOrganizer It's actually still a very worthwhile test. You've gone much further than many people who will buy the Meguiar's will just by claying alone. Pan nice job on the comparison. I do have to agree with @1500 Mike that with the Adams product it had the tightest beads. What I would really like to know is how long Adams product lasts? I think they claim 6-9 months and if true that is very good? I’ll say real world would most likely be 3-4 months. So here’s my take....P&S takes first spot for slickness,gloss and shine BUT if I am being honest after watching your videos I’d say first place goes to Adams’s if you like tight beads and a close second place would be Mequiars and third P&S. I know you said the P&S only lasts 30 days before having to reapply and I agree with you about how it seems to have the best water sheathing capabilities BUT doesn’t have the best water beading. So I must admit I am on the fence as to which product to buy? I might have to go back and watch your videos again on all three products BUT for me it’s looking like Adams, Meguiars and then P&S. I think it would be important to update or add how long each product lasts before having to reapply. I believe you Pan when you say P&S has the best shine/gloss/slickness BUT both Adams and Mequiars I think have a better bead effect. Decisions decisions, decisions....ughhhhhhhhh!!!!!

This just confirms my opinion that in real world usage, it doesn’t pay to use an expensive spray product. Assuming we are washing the car frequently, just use a good spray wax or similar to build up a little protection until the next wash. Is there any real benefit to hanging an expensive coating underneath if we are constantly topping/boosting/reloading? If we are adding these expensive products every week or two in real world usage, that gets to be very expensive. It makes no sense to me to spend a lot of money on something like Adams.

This is great content! An idea for a test: soil resistance. Maybe use things that might stick to paint instead of the things that clean it? I'm thinking things like engine oil, sawdust, clay-heavy dust, salt, grime, bug guts, bird droppings. Obviously, some would be too expensive or impossible to simulate, but that's just the beginning of an idea.

Great vid Pan! If the adams failed so quickly with the APC I highly doubt it would survive a week in a Canadian winter with salt/sand and abrasion, let a lone the advertised 6-8 months. At $100 CAD for a 16oz bottle that's a huge fail in my opinion. Maybe prepping the surface with a polish would allow for better adhesion. I was going to order the Adams coating but not after this.

Any Sio2(Meguiars ceramic wax, Mckee's hydro blue sio2 coating)products need power washer for best results. Note : Sio2 is nasty stuff , need gloves while applying P&S bead maker is best to wipe on & wipe off and gloss effect easy to apply. Adam Ceramic spray is expensive for non-professional , instead better to apply Carpro Cquartz Ceramic Quartz Paint Protection (best results for professional only). All products will work if you prepare the paint well( iron remover/clay). otherwise waste of time. After cleanup apply Meguiars Ceramic wax then top with P&S bead maker for better protection & best results. Stay away from Adam Ceramic spray is a joke

Awesome video Pan, was great to see this ones side by side. Not impressed with the Adam's, I think is to much money, for that you'll better with a true coating, for the Meguiar's, don't know, time will tell. For me, I'll stay with my Bead Maker, most versatile product, the slickness and shine is out of this world, durability for me 30 to 60 days is more than enough IMO, if you maintain and clean you car often there should not be any issues with that. I prefer having that slickness and amazing shine every time I put in the car, than talk about durability, plus it's very affordable as well. Great stuff Pan.

This test said absolutely nothing....if you had washed away the chemicals in the APC etc properly (e,g, with a ph neutral shampoo) that impacts the tested products by laying on top, you would probably find that their still there and that their properties in terms of beading and sheeting would be back. No way you can remove for example the Adams coating with that short exposure to those chemicals and that little mechanical impact. If that was the case these products would be absolutely useless which they are not.
@PanTheOrganizer

Hi. Thanks for the constructive criticism.

I already had my doubts about Adams ceramic spray coating because the prep requirement is the same as a full ceramic coating, while the protection is only half of a full ceramic coating. Also, the price is similar to a full ceramic coating. Now that I have seen what a disappointment Adam's is, I'd like to see a comparison with UK 3.0 and Adams ceramic spray. In particular, how superior is a full ceramic coating vs Adams ceramic spray after the same torture test?

I would recommend adding sonax spray and seal. Also after the torture test application , drying and then using a alcohol ipa whipedown to romove all contamination. Finally the last water beading test. I have noticed using alcohol will romove all that top layer of chemicals which then will reveal the strongest of them all. Keep up the good work and testing.
