I have UK and US citizenship and usually vote Democrat. The British media suffers from Trump Derangement Syndrome. I listened to Times Radio on Trump. Its commentators are completely clueless. and incapable of analyzing the legal case. It was obviously bollocks. I have been reading the paper since the 1970s and these days it seems to employ idiots incapable of objective analysis. Ms Kelly is right the scary part of this is that most Americans have stopped trusting their mainstream media. They assume they are being fed propaganda and they are right. The Times hasn't worked this out. I visited the old Soviet Union and my uncle went there regularly and it is very similar to present-day America. Like the Soviet Union, something will eventually give.

I think Doyle may be right about more traditional churches attracting younger members. I am 35 and have recently starting attending a traditional anglican church - and I consider myself agnostic. Part of the reason is it is a counterbalance to the year-zero-wokery nonsense that pervades modern life. There are also other reasons, of course.

Mrs Forbes: don't forget that the Free Church of Scotland seceded from the Established Church of Scotland because the latter was getting too tolerant and liberal - although still Calvinist and adhering to the pernicious doctrine of predestination - which appears to get very little mention nowadays (satire of this doctrine from 19th century 'Memoirs of a Justified Sinner' by James Hogg). The Free Church does not allow statues, paintings, stained glass or instrumental music in church. As Calvinists, there is no hierarchy, therefore no vestments, candles, smells or bells. The minister is dressed in black. However, it should be remembered that the Church of Scotland admitted women ministers 25 years before the C of E.

I am sorry to say, but Andrew Doyle is wrong about the concept of papal infallacability. It is true that the pope has a lot of auhortiy in teaching. But this does not mean that his teachings are infallible. The doctrine of Infallacabillity only applies when the pope speaks ex cathedra which happened the last time in the fifties, when pope Pius XII declared that the virgin Mary was recieved into heaven being bodyly intact.

To pursue any other course will tear this country apart much farther than it already has been, to date. Our country is in dire need of unification, and of moving on into a hopefully greater future. As can be easily seen today, the percentage of those who are currently blind to the sense of rational argument is currently abysmal. Yes, democracy may be in crisis due simply to the idiocy of the common, severely warped, human being. Here's hoping for some degree of sane humanity in the politics of today and the future. If you know who I'm talking to, you're on the side of the continuance of the advance of human beings' positive influence upon this planet.
