DEVYANI PATIL Ma'am,. Thankful for your comment. It fully befits the quality and master class of the great Mehdi Hassan Saab's inimitable style of gayiki. But it's a matter ot profound regret that we -- the fans of this great singer on both sides of the divide -- had done precious little for him when his life was in distress, even though we -- both Indians and Pakistanis -- feel proud of him, call him our heart throb, and use to bestow upon him the choicest of accolades on every available opportunity at the drop of a hat, after his sad demise. It is, indeed ,an unedifying spectacle having a bearing on his fans of both nations -- India and Pakistan . Therefore, all such hullabaloo appears to me extremely hollow and nothing but mere eyewash, lip service and publicity gimmick. I feel extremely disgusted with myself whenever I reminisce and think about it . How unfortunate it was that we had collectively failed this noble soul. Perhaps, it will continue to prick our conscience during the rest of our life, provided we have any ! Perhaps, posterity will never forgive us for this historic blunder !

For grasping the meaning of ghazals or for that matter any genre of music, one need not have to be a Hindu or Muslim or Christian or for that matter, a faithful of any other religion. The great Mehdi Hassan Saab, the singer of this ghazal and a legend in his lifetime, who was universally recognized as the King Of Ghazals, had made us learn the true meaning of love and it's universal appeal through his divine creations and had made us view this world in an altogether different perspective -- full of hopes and aspirations! Let it be informed that Ghazals are rendered in a language called 'URDU', which is considered as one of the sweetest languages of the world. People like Hasarat Amir Khusrusaab, among others, were collectively responsible for its emergence! We should be gratful to the stalwarts of URDO poetry like the great Meer- Tak- E- Meer Saab,Mirza Ghalib Saab, Bahadur Shah Zafar Saab, Iqbal Saab, Daagh Dehlavi Saab, Qatil Shifai Saab, Momin Kha Momin Saab, Faiz Ahmed Faiz Saab, Ahmed Faraz Saab, Farhat Shehzad Saab, to name a few, for whom a wonderful creation called GHAZAL came into being!
