Mehdi Hassan Live - Kya Bhala Mujhko Parakhne Ka Nateeja - Rare Version

In 1976 during his 1st live performance in Delhi after 1947, I had the privilege to attend. It was held in the auditorium of Modern School on a weekend. After the 2nd interval after 11pm there were hardly 50 of us left in the hall. All were sitting on mattresses spread on floor. The three ghazals he sang were before the concert came to an end were following 1. Kya bhala mujh ko parakhney ka natija Niklas 2. Dekh to dil ke ja'an se uth-ta hai 3. Ab ke hum bichrey to shayad kabhi khabon mein milen That has been my best ghazal concert I have attended in my life. And after that I kept looking for the cassette of this very ghazal for a number of years till one day I found it in some collection brought put by RPG house in Mussoorie in 1995. But could not buy it as I was not carrying money in my pocket and it was the tourist season. So when I returned next day with money to buy the collection had been sold out.

Your Uniyal surname reminds me of a senior Uniyal Sahab English journalist in Delhi who used to live on Munirka DDA flats and was with Observer Group during 1988-90 period. Wondering if you are related to him. He was very fond of Ghazals and in specific of Mehdi Hasan Sb.

He was my brother and cousins colleague and close friend, by virtue of which I too came to know him and even visited his DDA flat in Munirka on the first left turn while coming from the IIT side. His flat was also on the left side after taking the turn into Munirka. He wrote an opinion piece on the subject of existence of any SC, ST, OBC journalist in the print and TV media at that time in Delhi circle. And his findings concluded there was none! This we are talking about 1989-92 period of Delhi. I might be having its copy some where saved in my papers.
