Correct. Fully agree. And then there are some Indian channels who seem to have memorised whatever was told in the journey (BTS) video and have kind of revolved around those same words at the time of presenting their reaction. Yes, I am an Indian, but I had to say this because you know the difference between genuine reactions and reactions that are quite obviously, not so genuine. 😀 😌

in general Mehram means someone that is part of your family like (parents, siblings, grandparents, uncles and aunts) but when you marry a person, that person becomes Mehram for you, like you are one family now. So yeah sadly they are separated now. and Arooj Aftab is Pakistani - American singer and one of her song "mohabbat" was on Barack Obama's playlist
@WorstUsernamEvr3 жыл бұрын
I'm team Jodi on this one. This was an outstanding song that instantly puts you in the feels (also team Jodi on not liking the previous Atif Aslam song either). About the meaning, according to the behind the scene/song video, this song is about loss of someone close to you. The word mehram is an Islamic term denoting someone who is close to you (specifically of the opposite gender and legal in the eyes of God - spouse, immediate family, etc.). So this song is about morning the permanent loss of someone very close to you (specifically, in this case, about separation of a loved one through break-up/divorce and both of them knowing there will be no reconciliation). Also according to the BTS, his area is covered up denoting that he is trying to preserve their memory. Both of their set designs are based on separate classical stories. As far as this being live, both of the internationally famous music outlets from Pakistan - Coke Studio and Nescafe Basement, are and will always be performed live. Some songs have required multiple takes to land the perfect recording. Some, most famously Chaap Tilak, are recording on the first, practice take, and ended up being perfect right off the bat. The sing the entire song again and again - both vocals and instruments - until they have the perfect sound and that's what we hear. If you listen carefully, when Asfar Hussain opens the door to go from one room to the other, you can hear the door open (I guess they forgot to edit that out in post) proving that it's all recorded live.

Hey guys thank you for a very honest review to yet another gem of CS14, the basic theme of this song is the pain of separation haunting both of them and them expressing it in their own way, hence it starts with that eerie feel to it. Nick I get how you were super analyzing the set and the message behind it as I was doing the same but then I enjoyed the song even more when I just stopped doing that. Absolutely loved Jodi's reaction to the song and those are all the spots where I still get goosebumps from this song even though I've played it at least a hundred times by now. The set is designed portraying the rooms as their memories and desires, he is trying to protect all his memories of her and hence everything is covered up and the dust shows that its been a while but he doesn't wanna let go of them. Her room shows that she is lost in the dark without him and she can still see the light in the distance and still have that hope that she can one day get to that light the arch door in the room is representing the moon or the source of light that wont let her go of that hope. The third room is mostly dark and the windows are shut so there is no source of light or air that the plant of their love requires to grow yet whenever they come together there are new plants of hope sprouting, whether they will live or die is unknown. But both these singers are amazing, Asfar is a lead singer of the winning band of another show that brings new bands and lets them showcase and compete against each other and has produced some of the giants of Pakistan's music industry and Arooj is a Grammy nominated and was also one of the singer on Obama's playlist he shared. Once again well done and keep enjoying this journey and stay safe.

Actually the reason why they didn't build it to that level to which Nick is referring to is because it is a sad song about a broken relationship. The title of the word "Mehram" has a broad meaning, they have translated it to as a person who is gone forever but the actual meaning is that "a person you can't marry". Then there are "Mehram by blood" which are your brother sister, mother father, children etc but its also your partner (Husband/Wife) who you can be a Mehram to you. Mehram By Blood can remain your Mehram forever but your partner can be Non- Mehram after Divorce or end of a relationship. So, the whole meaning of the song is related to a broken relationship which is very Sad. I think they have taken this song to the correct level and end it there.

Just for your info, Arooj Aftab is also included in Barack Obama's playlist. All the songs of this Coke Studio are recorded live in one take. There are BTS available on youtube for every song, but I guess they don't have subtitles on them, so you can only see and may be able to understand what the whole team is doing at the backend just by judging from their actions. And, Jodi I would absolutely love to know how your class is going to react to this song, may be you could add the details here after you have played this song in your class, pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee 😉 Hope to see more lovely reactions from you guys, keep it up! take care, stay safe, cheers!!!

The translation of the lyrics is not the best. The message of the lyrics can be interpreted in a few different ways, but here is most likely is referring to a breakup or divorce. And it is telling the tale of how the person they have lost was their shade in the blistering sun but now they have separated and are not sure if there is any point in collecting the broken pieces of their hearts. And yes, all of the coke studios are filmed and recorded live in one go. These videos are not edited or recorded separately. Which is just absolutely brilliant in my opinion.
