It's simple. Meigs Field is the spiritual home of Microsoft Flight Sim from it's very beginnings. I'm really surprised MS did not put the old girl in MFS as an option.

Well done for showing this it’s so different from the FS98 sim which was my first one as well and I do still enjoy flying on MS2020 what a difference a few years make and I shall be 70 in May

Minor detail. Meigs. One syllable. Say it with a hard A vowel sound. "May"gz. Not 'may-gus.'

For me Meigs is even more classic than for most. Simmer since late 80th and working for a Chicago based company I once landed there in a kingair, though not at the yoke, but still. Highpoint of all my real life flying. Must have for me.

Us old time simmers love our Meigs, that's for sure. I gra bed the freeware version last week and will definitely be upgrading to the full in version soon.

Not that long after it closed I was in Chicago so I walked over to where the field had been. I had landed there, in simulator world, many times but had never been there in the real world when the field was open. The runways were gone, of course, but the tower, though bordered up, was still there. The terminal building was open but there was no one there. I think there was a table with stacks of brochures explaining what had happened to Meigs field. I am glad it is back, in Simulator world at least.

Nice! A lovely slow flight down memory lane! I will upgrade to the paid version to thank the developer for this tribute. I go back even further with Meigs. I bought the first gen Mac in 1984 (cost a bloody fortune) and 1986, MSFS for Mac came out. Monochrome. 6 inch screen. Mouse controls. My first sim but pathetic and I didn’t spend much time (next sim was Falcon 3 in 1994 with FS98 a few years later). I tried taking off and landing every plane on this field... the Lears, 737, Concorde and even a 3rd Party Starfighter, didn't care, just tried until it somehow worked. I took the lessons with the Kings there. Started out with FS4 myself. This place is the GA homeplate to many. If one single scenery addon is mandatory, it's this one.

I remember explaining to a friend years ago it’s nothing special to most but because of that it’s something special to me. I remember many an hour sat in front of my old (positively ancient now) compaq and flying out of there. They’ve really bought it to life too with so much detail it’s beautiful. Everyone of your videos whilst I love them just makes me curse my potato that sits on my computer desk lol. Btw I’ve flown a few micro lights that sounded like that IRL, we jokingly called them flymo’s

Glad you got this :) Hope you enjoyed it - question, did you have the DD Chicago scenery installed at the same time? I have both and they seem to conflict, I got the Chicago scenery and when I fly there now Meigs Field is still there but kind of auto-gen default buildings and loads of trees.

@@jimtennant8647 rename your Meigs folder were it starts with a Z rename to A instead. Then it should work. Mine did and both sceneries work together now.
