i'd like to see you use it in some close focusing scenarios. Indoors, gimbal stuff, etc. The wide landscape stuff looked fantastic.

Nice video, thanks for sharing this! You got some beautiful shots there. Love that sort of creamy look. My first cine lens will the 16mm though. That might never come off my bmpcc once I pick it up 😀

I have a question and it seems you might be the best person to answer my question, I have a Panasonic 12-32 pancake lens and Ive noticed recording 4k video the image has a cheap digital graininess look to it. Im an amateur so I have no idea what would be a suitable replacement, want something that is around the 12mm for landscapes and dont care if the image has a softer more vintage look to it. Should I go for a vintage lens or something like the Meike, or do i need to go more high end with a new panasonic or olympus lens? Any help would be most appreciated.
@RobinParmar4 жыл бұрын
A slow zoom like that is a cheap digital lens, so the results will follow. You could try a fixed focal length like the Meike and practice your manual focusing, though this approach might not appeal to you. There are many other factors to consider. Set your fps at 24, your shutter angle at 180, and your ISO at the lowest base your camera supports. Vary only the ISO to get exposures within a small latitude. Everything else is down to light, your ability to frame a scene, and other matters that have nothing to do with your equipment.

The footage looks very nice! Noticed any softness in the edges? Some people say so. For Dolphin-watching of course, I`ld prefer the weather sealed 12 - 35 mm Panansonic lens, or a simple plastic bag. Please keep going on with your reviews.

How is it for indoor shooting? Like if I wanna shoot a scene In a small room and want to get as much of the room in the shot as possible
@MicroFourNerds5 жыл бұрын
It’s ok - it’s pretty wide - 24mm in full frame terms. For ultra wide you might be better off looking at a 7.5mm prime or the Olympus 9-18mm

Hi, Does it work with Lumix G7? I bought it and it says that this lens is not set properly?
@MicroFourNerds5 жыл бұрын
It will work just fine with the g7. Have you changed the setting in the menu that allows the camera to take manual lenses? If you have done that already it may be a faulty lens, as it definitely should work on the g7

I had ordered 1 and it came defective with an extremely loose f ring. Ordered a second and it came with black specks inside the lens grouping. Meike’s idea of support for the 1st was that I should ship to California at my cost and they will send me back another one. Mind you I had the lens for 1 day. Returned both to Amazon. I REALLY LIKED THE IMAGES but I will wait till they iron out their quality control and establish a clear policy on warranty work.

Do you ever miss the bokeh of full frame and fast glass?
@MicroFourNerds5 жыл бұрын
Plenty of bokeh with some decent primes on mft 😁 my fave lens is the lumix 25mm 1.4... soo sharp and the bokeh is lovely. I do get what you mean though, and I suppose it boils down to what you’re shooting. A lot of the things I shoot (landscapes, city etc) don’t need it and the depth of field works in my favour. But if someone were solely a portrait shooter for example, I’d probably recommend full frame. It’s all about the right tools for the job

@MicroFourNerds5 жыл бұрын
Focal length wise the Meike would probably be a bit better at 12mm rather than 16mm. The optics on the Meike are superb. If auto focus isn’t a deal break the Meike is a lovely piece of glass!

Does T2.2 mean F2.2 or it's a bit more complicated than that?
@КириллМалышев-ъ8щ5 жыл бұрын
Hi, well its rather f1.9-f2.
@ethanhenrickson61565 жыл бұрын
It’s a more accurate way to represent the light going into your camera. Like f2.2 could also be f2.1 or f2.3 as the tolerance isn’t as high as t-stop. A t-stop is t2.2 lenses is exactly t2.2. It was created for film businesses, so when they switch lenses the exposure is exactly the same. Also a t2.2 lenses is more like f2 lenses.

I have to be honest I’m not sure about this lens, some of the shots around the old harbour with the cliffs on the right looked a bit off colour wise. The dark greens seemed too dark. However the clips looking down on the terracotta roofed houses looked superb. What a lovely place and as usual an excellent video. Will be interested to see a comparison with a LUMIX 12mm lens. Thank you.
