@FulaanCreative2 жыл бұрын
Lol. I know what you mean. The reason is actually simple. It's not possible natively because it's a mirrorless camera with lenses designed for mirrorless cameras. The EF lenses are lenses designed for DSLR cameras not mirrorless and because of that there is extra flange space between the mount and the Lens so there is space for a filter. With native mirrorless lenses like EF-m or RF there is no physical space for a filter. This results in the possiblity of smaller cameras and lenses which is one of the appeals of mirrorless systems. So yeah that's why there isn't any non adapter filters of this type..

I've never heard you mention losing an f stop with the Meike adapter. But you did mention you covered a speed booster in the video link at the end. Followed the link but it wasn't a speedbooster in that one either. The variable ND filter version is in that video. This is a sudden issue for me. I bought the Meike adapter (w/o the var ND filter) to use my R10 with a telescope. I just had a Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 delivered. But with my adapter, I'm only getting f3.5. Probably safe to assume it's due to not using a speedbooster?
@FulaanCreative Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure I understand your question. The ND filter adapter should not have any effect whatsoever on your aperture. If it's a 3.5 lens it should give you 3.5 fstop. Seems like the adapter might be malfunctioning.
@Naku-SomewhereYouAreNot Жыл бұрын
@@FulaanCreative Thank you so much for taking the time to address my question. I've got the Meike ef/rf adapter without the ND filter. Using it, my Sigma f2.8 lens only opens to f3.5. I assume since the adapter moves the lens away from the sensor it causes a loss of about an fstop and that's what the speedbooster fixes. But you're saying, I shouldn't be losing an fstop using the adapter. I'm going to order the Meike with the variable ND filter and give it a shot. Thanks again for taking time out to help! Your videos have already been immensely helpful and to get personal attention is over the top!
@FulaanCreative Жыл бұрын
@@Naku-SomewhereYouAreNot No prob. Thanks for watching and commenting. Regarding your adapter, it still sounds like 1 of 2 things. Either the lens or adapter is malfunctioning or the camera is showing you f3.5 on the screen but it's really f2.8 and the communication is just bad between the lens and adapter for some reason. The distance you mentioned has no bearing on the fstop. I have a bunch of plain ef/rf adapters and none of them have an issue like that.
@Naku-SomewhereYouAreNot Жыл бұрын
@@FulaanCreative Immediately after posting my last comment I pulled the lens out and connected it again. The R10 showed f3.5 and when I rolled the aperture dial it went right down to f2.8. I don't know why it wouldn't move before but I know it didn't. I think we can both safely assume it was some kind of cockpit error. Short story, it has healed. I'm sorry for wasting your time. @@RonPalacio I'm using the same lens. I normally troubleshoot this way. Double check if censors are clean both adapter and lens. When you put the adapter back on make sure it clicks + same procedure with lens. Sometimes the image stabilization is funky on the 20-70 so turn it off before powering the camera
