I got my A6400 yesterday, together with the Sigma 30 + 56. Awesome combo. Did you also notice how the lenses have a lot of difficulty with vertical lines in the background? This is the only minor downside to the lenses. I agree with you about the colors-they are excellent. Thank you for another pleasant video. For that price the Meike seems a no brainer, even though I have the Sigma 30. Ciao from The Netherlands!

Hello, i recent buyed a sony a6000 pack kit brand brand new(sony bag, 16gb card and 16-55mm and 55-210mm lenses) for 600 euros i thout it to be a good purchase to take better quality fotos of family and baby. Then i found your vídeos and now i want to use more potencial of the a6000 , so i decided to get a prime lens but with no budjet i found that this manual 35mm would do it for now until i can get the sony 35mm. I thought this will be a good replacement to 7artisans fast 35mil lens with f1.2 apperture, But from here we can see both lenses has uncontrollable chromatic aberration. For me, the older Meike f1.7 is still the winner in the 35mil category even at one Fstop lower. Difficult to edit C.A in video post. Thanks for the review. It just saved my money.

Unrelated to your channel, I noticed Amazon's description advertises it for A7III and A9 even though it's a crop body, APS-C lens. While I get those can shoot in crop mode, they should not advertise like that. People will buy it by mistake.

I am very new to the Sony a6000 suite of cameras and will probably buy the a 6400. So far as this Meike lens is concerned, I have not found it difficult to set up focus peaking and set the 6000 I have on loan to manual focus. Highlighted peaking ( I have chosen red for no particular reason) clearly show an area in focus, which may be necessary with a 1.4 lens with v narrow depth of field.

In your a6400 upcoming review, please share your thoughts comparing with FF. You have so much experience with a6000 series and lenses. What is your take on FF versus APS-C sony ? I am pondering to get a FF a7iii or a 6400 (2 or 3k usd with lenses), to get better results in low light conditions and bokeh than even with latest phone samsung s10+ or xsmax or huawaei p30 (more as an enthousiat than pro). I noticed that crop factor needs to be applied to Fstop, not just focal length, so FF maybe way of future. Leica Q2 seems cool but pricey as compact. Thanks...

I'm in the same boat. I'm upgrading and I can either get the a7ii or a6400 for around $1400au. The a6400 seems to have better auto focus but everyone raves about the a7ii because of its in body stabling system and being full frame. Would be great to see a a7ii vs a6400 👍

Jaime Alberto Burciaga Duarte Oh man, first of all, congrats! Super exciting. I am really liking the A6400, and the improved autofocus seems to make the Sigma 30 much more accurate. You can’t beat the Sigma trio on an A6400 I think. I sold my 18-105 and now am using strictly primes, but it depends on how you want to shoot. The A6400 would be an optical upgrade, whereas the 18-105 would be an optical downgrade from your Sigmas.

As soon as I saw your family pictures with the trifecta I wanted the 56 for our upcoming girl, but the A6400 has been quite tempting as now that I take more pictures I’ve felt the ISO in A6000 is very poor among other stuff I’ve “outgrown”. The focus throw is the same! I have the 1.7 and it's also 180 degrees 😂

@@andytrace it’s still a bloody awful lens through. The blue tone colour is really bad. I guess I could fiddle with the camera settings or get a filter, but it’s still not German glass. I hate this lens wish I had never bought it. Then again I am a die hard vintage lens enthusiast and this just doesn’t have the character I’m after. Instead I’ve found a German modified lens that very rare and the photos are ten times better to me.

Hi! Nice review! How would you compare this to 7artisan 35mm 1.2? I intend to use such a lens on Panasonic GH5S for video always on a tripod almost exclusevily for indoor talking heads. I like the sharpness and extra light from the faster lenses but I am concered a bit with chromatic aberration, which is not easy to fix in video.

Sigmas are focus-by-wire plastic photography lens. I like more fully manual mechanical metal and glass lenses. Which is suitable for video. Bokeh on this lens is more "modern vintage" which is awsome too.

That is Normal there is some excess travel for tolerances in manufacturing and expansion/contraction conditions in the materials.
