Hi, lovely job, well done, it was a pleasure to watch 👍 👌 I've got combat boots that I bought vibram montagna block soles for and got a local cobbler to do glue them, I use them as motorcycling boots, but they said that they're the wrong soles but they could sell me the correct ones for an extra fee, I agreed and they did them but I've had to go back to them numerous times to get them to glue them again and again, I'm fed up now and just want to know which is the best glue to use for them so that I can relay this information back to them because I'm not sure whether they're experienced enough to use the best glue, as we all love a bargain, they might be using the wrong glue, but yeah...I also find that the soles they sold me are very soft compared to the montagna block soles I've got and they seem to wear down very quickly too... I mean, I've glued some soles before, it took a while for me to find the best product that worked but as these are hard wearing boots being used on a motorcycle maybe they need a more hard wearing glue possibly?

@@Skoservice Since you care about feedback, I have a request for a video that I bet will be very popular (also in Europe since you are from here, so you could advice things easy to find in EU): professional advice to help non-professionals repair their own shoes. What glue should be used? Where can soles be bought? What kind of soles and glue are best (for what type of sole)? Would flexible cyanoacrylate work? What about cheap glue to repair tires/bicycle inner tubes? Why do some professionals heat their glue and what kind of glue do they use? What are the cheap and easy-to-find materials for non-professionals in Europe or the US? Can we glue a sanded sole onto an old sole or should we really remove it? Ideally, it would be great to conduct experiments to measure the efficiency of common glues (e.g., different brands of cheap (flexible?) superglue, cement glue (what is it exactly?)). Are stitches really indispensable? If so, what thread should we use (material, size)? Would screws or nails help to maintain a sole? What about repairing the fabric on the side - is there an easy way to use glue? What kind of (cheap) tools do you recommend or not? I spent hours if not days looking for these informations. No professionals talk about it. You would be the first one to guide us. Just an idea… Thanks for reading my comment until here!"

Hello... Would this vibram sole unit fit onto the meindel Island boots... If you take of the midsole section as well
Those Meindl boots are Amazing for walking , Warm ,comfortable and 100% waterproof . but the Elephant in the room is the Cost to resole I bought what looks like the same pair of very slightly worn Meindl German Army Mountain Boots 4 weeks back ( the best walking boots ive ever owned for £59.00 with a tiny bit of wear on the corner of the heal. Mending Shoes and Boots is a trade and a skill a lively hood and is not going to to the job for £20 , Sure the Vibran Units can be picked up for a tenner wholesale but the overall cost of the job must be £50-£65 ? unless the footwear cost well over £ 100.00 to buy isn't it false economy to get them mended when there are several army surplus shops that sell grade A Meindl boots
@sdemosi Жыл бұрын
Not really. It's not solely (pardon pun) about the money. It's prolonging the life of a well made product rather than throwing it away. Also if you paid the retail price for a pair of Meindl Island actives then getting a few extra years from them with a resole seems like a reasonable option.
