I was just talking to my dad about how you guys will rebuild your boots and then I stumble upon this video. I've been trying to let as many people know about Your guys boots. My builder pros have helped my over all lower body pain almost go away completely, The medium arch was the right choice in my case. Looking forward to my ND1 pair
@TheBibleListener3 жыл бұрын
Shoes shouldnt have arch support. That's the problem with everyone posture, stride, and pain. People for thousands of years went barefoot or had very thin shoes and people actually used all the muscles in their feet and the natural arch is there for a reason. Idiots just thought in the late 1900s it be good to make shoes that have you angled up facing forward and screw your natural stride up thinking it would be better lol. They was wrong
@Spheregrid23 жыл бұрын
@@TheBibleListener I have fallen arches, so having a boot with arch support helps in my case. But I see your point
@RockandrollNegro3 жыл бұрын
First off, humans have been wearing protective covering over their feet since the dawn of mankind. There were never groups of humans who walked barefoot their entire lives. Second off, when people began living past age 40, they realized that they needed better foot support in order to not be crippled in pain at age 45. This is why we have arch support, raised heels and rubber outsoles.
@nickgentry67903 жыл бұрын
As a " Nick's Boots" owner, they will not replace the upper for a few reason, if it is a custom fit, the upper is specifically measured to your foot. Second, the upper has stretched to fit you. They can not just "replace" the whole boot. Third is the cost. To have them rebuilt costs 200 to 250, depending on the style of boot. Fourthly when you purchase a pair of boots like these, they will last you a life time if you take care of them properly. The pair of Nick's that I own have been resolved once and are due for a nother, typically they will last 6 to 8 years before needing a rebuild. But it also depends on what you do in them. The more you abuse them the faster they wear out.
@kunsamasan3 жыл бұрын
And here I was thinking if the boots are basically being remade it's best you buy a new one
@nickgentry67903 жыл бұрын
@@kunsamasan nope there is no need to buy a new pair every time they need to be rebuilt. This design of boots have been around for possibly the last 100 years. Not much has changed with design except the introduction of the "vibram" sole. Typically the sole on these boots are flat with a lil tread. Before the use of rubber, the entire sole was made out of leather. These boots are designed and built to last the wearer a life time, as long as they are properly cared for. Cleaning any and all mud off, as mud will pull moisture out of the leather and will cause damage over a shorter time. Just like with our skin we put lotion on it to keep it soft and flexible. The same goes with the leather in the boots, you keep them oiled and clean they will stay flexible and soft. I wear my boots every day, and the days that I don't wear them I can tell and feel the difference in my feet and calves. If you get a custom fit boot, the break in time is 2 weeks, depending on who tells you what a mixture of 50/50 water and rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle, when you first wear them for the first 2 weeks spray on the 50/50 mix as much as possible, this will help break in the boots to forum to your foot and ankle. Afterwards I would then oil then up till the leather can not take anymore oil. Obenauf's heavy duty lp is the brand I use, I will not use anything else, all other "boot oils" have petroleum in them and can cause damage to the threads and leather. Remember you want to replace the natural oils that were in the leather with a natural boot oil, and Obenauf's is the only natural boot oil on the market.
@SuperFlowback3 жыл бұрын
@@kunsamasan why would you want to buy another pair for $600-700 when you can have them rebuilt for $200-250? Plus, there’s almost no break in time with a rebuilt boot. I'm curious what the cost is on a rebuild like this, vs new boots. Honestly looks like more work to disassemble and re-use just the upper, than it would be to make a new boot from scratch. Especially considering the cleanup, teardown, and all the eyelets have to be removed and re-installed individually.

@@TBeare I was about to say the same thing. A new pair needs break in time and costs around 600. I've seen full rebuilds are 300 on their site and I'd pay that in a heart beat to spare my heels and toes from hard leather for weeks lol

From their website: a complete rebuild costs $299 and may have some additional costs. Versus boots that cost at least $550. So yeah, I’d say it’s worth it!
@pvg443 жыл бұрын
Silly question here… I realize the benefits of a refurbishment…but in this instance shouldn’t you just replace the boot? I think it’s great for the full rebuild, but it’s literally a new boot that will need to be broken back in etc.

It's service they offer. Why buy a new boot when you have a new boot with the original upper on it and already broken in for 1/2 the price of buying new? The upper is the hardest thing to break in.
@EdAb3 жыл бұрын
@@dqalombardi Lol! That's like saying all we did was replace the engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, tires, seats and doors... otherwise, it's the same car! :-) That said, I'm glad this option exists!
@EdAb3 жыл бұрын
@@MrRustyStrings This is debatable. I find it most difficult to brake in the foot bed and the vamp area, where my foot experiences the most movement. I guess if this rebuild costs something like $300-400 and new boots are $500-600, then this is money well spent. If this costs $500+ then I think you might as well buy a new pair of boots. What does such a rebuild cost?

@capers724243 жыл бұрын
@@patrickmckinney3646 if one can do that much work several times without exceeding the cost of the boot, then the boots are horribly overpriced to begin with.
@dunndudebemelol3 жыл бұрын
@@capers72424 They aint cheap boots, but also you have a worn in upper. Bear in mind a lot of Nicks boots are made to specific specifications. They are a custom product.
@capers724243 жыл бұрын
@@dunndudebemelol my point is that if you can “resole and rebuild many times at a fraction of the cost of a new boot”, and that rebuilding is about 80% of the work and replaces about 80% of the materials required to initially make the boots, then the initial cost of the boot is too high, irregardless of whether they were made to specific specifications or non-specific specifications, whatever those might be.
