Meinls really fit Spankys style perfectly. Even when he was with sabian I just thought some of meinls darker and drier cymbals would suit his playing perfectly.

Agreed. The snare has no life. The whole mix sounds like the kit hasn't been given space to 'breathe'. Otherwise great playing, and the actual sound of the kit is great.

No those are most likely those red Hydraulic heads which has oil in between the two plies to actually dampen the sound of the drums. Especially for studio-type situations
