@@IInvictus 😂!! I’ve seen John live with Origin 6 times and every time he is playing like he is bored with no signs of fatigue or strain during the entire performance. I’ve been playing drums for 28 years and I can tell you first hand that what he plays is freaking difficult. I could never get the heel toe technique down. I use the tip toe swivel foot technique to play fast double bass sections. Heel toe technique is definitely the best technique to take strain off your legs but to master it to the extent that John has is amazing.

@@nikedgerated yes but guys the reason most of us got into double bass was because it seems inhuman to hammer the floor with your feet like a gorilla beats its chest,..... Just feels lame to me for the drummer to do doubles on each side to conserve energy and rely 100% on his triggers.....basically speaking.... If you had a power cut,...... You cant even jam.
@benjiequezada4 жыл бұрын
Look at that overhead view around 3:16. Even on his doubles the beaters are coming way off the head. He found a technique that works for him and, when you play music this relentlessly fast for entire sets, conserving energy is important. Virtually every high level/fast metal drummer uses triggers on their kicks to accentuate every note because when you’re playing 16th notes at 270+ bpm, they get really muddy without triggers. And if you think John Longstreth can’t jam with a power outage, then I don’t even know what to say.
@njmontano16254 жыл бұрын
Here we go again with trigger hating idiots who don't really know what they're talking about. 1. Not really about conserving stamina. At these tempos, it's more about technique than stamina. No drummer will last by powering. 2. All about getting defined notes heard. 3. With low down chugs, distortions, and vocal gutturals: good luck getting the bass drum(in it's already very low muddy tone) cut through properly without triggers. 4. Yes, there is cheat in using triggers called tapping. But it requires to having the technique down already, which doesn't really make a huge difference. "Ugh I hate guitarists who use electric guitars and effects. Should play acoustic and bare to show their true skill! Using electric guitars is cheating! Let's see guitarists create that tone in that speed with only acoustics and mics!" Yeah, that's how stupid it looks like hating on triggers. I'm a drummer myself and I know damn well what I'm talking about.
