Kaz is one of the biggest producers in the drumming world. A lot of the big drum tracks that a lot of pop/hip-hop prog drummers play to are made by him. He's an all around great musician and as we've seen here, clearly a monster on his main instrument.

As a bassist, I love these videos because it really shows how important the rhythm section truly is! I played with a band in Portland for about two years, and on the few unfortunate sessions I couldn’t make it to practice, the drummer refused to play without me, and I felt the same way when he couldn’t make it. It’s two sides of the same coin in many ways!

@@llamedica probably I sort of discovered it by accident because I tried to turn half of a hi hat into a riveted fast crash. Inevitably I put it back together as a hi hat and noticed how much more I liked the sound. Worth noting my hats are pretty close together even with my foot off the pedal. So the extra sound from the rivers make it sound like it's more open than it really is.

As a bass player and avid Primus fan (since around 1991 when I saw them support Rush in Sheffield, UK) I found this utterly riveting. And mind blowing - how Kaz nailed that for the most part in terms of feel etc was astonishing. Herbs stuff isn't easy to play so being able to pick up several key points just from the first listen with no drums was utterly bonkers. I've seen several of these now but I think this one is my fav so far. Well done Sir, you absolutely nailed that. And props to the lads for giving Kaz an almost impossible task.

Kaz is perfect for this one too, love how his explorations changed the vibe of the track, goes to show that drums in Primus are just as nuts and demanding as the bass parts.
