Not gonna lie, this is probably one of the tastiest beats ever to alight my eardrums. 10/10 for just absolute style mastery. I don't think I've ever been disappointed by a Richard Spaven video!

man this song is unreal. experimental but completely accessible. the way the harmony moves around in the verse and then goes somewhere else completely in the chorus. especially love the sequences that jump out around @3:39. truly masterful, pleasure to listen to, wow im gushing

Good Gaia this is good. I’m gonna have to learn this one. The sorta tempo modulating early on is something me and my friends used to play, and just never could nail it cleanly, but this dude nukes it from orbit. So smooth and thoughtful. Definitely one of a handful of drummers out there whose elevating drumming up to the level of art.

Can you explain for non-musician what's wrong with this song, technically? Cz I don't find it weird, just sounds sort of busy and chaotic which I really like
@adamalexanderray2 жыл бұрын
@@johndoeusa65 absolutely nothing wrong with it technically. It doesn’t have a straight ahead feel or groove which is why most people may feel it doesn’t flow easily. It still is very laid back and I wouldn’t call it chaotic. If you want to listen to slightly more chaotic music try and sit through the whole of this song kzbin.info/www/bejne/bmTXqqSij9NkpdE
@johndoeusa652 жыл бұрын
@@adamalexanderray Naw, that's just straight up screaming. I think a prime example of chaotic to me would be Ascension by John Coltrane
@adamalexanderray2 жыл бұрын
@@johndoeusa65 yes, we have very different interpretations of chaotic. I would argue even the most chaotic jazz probably would still be palatable to most listeners, they just wouldn’t enjoy it much, however the most chaotic mathcore/hardcore would not be palatable for most listeners.

It's in 4/4 but he starts the groove a 32nd note (I think) late so it sounds delayed.

@@finnhughes3892 yup!! Good ear. 4/4/ but starts with a 32nd rest and then straightens out on the and of 1.

@@joshuamusic8558 spaven says 32nd note rest or delay , but to me it seems like a 16th note . may depend on how it's counted/ written.
@joshuamusic85582 жыл бұрын
@@mathewraycarey yes exactly could be either depending on how you count it. If you count snare on 2 and 4 then it's a 32nd note rest. If you count it where snare is on beat 3 of each measure (twice as fast) then it would be a 16th note rest!
