Hi mekenze and family. I know a lot about mattresses and how to get around the problem of those unsightly ridges even on a fairly new mattress, The frame supporting them is the culprit, its often called "matandiko" by carpenters in kenya. The solution is to either get one with a flat plywood base or else modify your current one with such a base. Always remember the size when ordering a new one. Am sure you can find them in several hardware stores esp in Meru

Even as you invest in solar power, perhaps you can get those bulbs that retain power( slightly pricey) No sure what they are called. When power goes out you can have lights for some hours. Have seen them at my parents, they also live in a village where power goes off frequently

I’m not sure the brand name for the old one.. the new one is called Orthopedic spring Firm. I think sticking with a spring mattress is what will make the difference… the first one wasn’t spring and it was medium density and you can clearly see it didn’t last. 😂☺️

On the bed, do look for a 6×6 plywood and have it nailed on top of the criss-cross panels. That way, your mattress will last longer. *Those criss-cross wood panels destroy mattresses
