Mel, like Bowie, Marc Bolan, Syd Barrett, probably Robert Smith, and likely Steve Harvey, definitely Hideaki Anno, Makoto Shinkai, Salvador Dali, Louise Bourgeois, are or were, for better or for worse, prophets, as far as I know. Mel Gibson does it visually.

Mel's been through some shit and I personally think, inherently, he's a good person and the drugs and alcohol ruined him. He's been shunned for almost 8 years now, and the first movie he makes is a fucking masterpiece. I'm glad he's back in the industry.

I never held anything against him, and I think it sucks when anyone is black or greylisted from the industry. I also never cared for anything Gibson directed so far, but I hope you're right about the new one being good. I'm going to see it finally this week...
@Kaaat4088 жыл бұрын
Big Man Can I just say on one point you made, I hated Hacksaw as well, it made me cringe and the dialogue and action sequences didn't feel authentic or genuine, and all I hear is how amazing it is etc. I'm just happy to hear someone else didn't like it as well. I felt like I was in the twilight zone with everyone loving and raving about this glorified lifetime movie 😳🙄
@mrmr24887 жыл бұрын
I would maybe agree if the shit I've seen come out of Hollywood in the past 10 years was "good" but after watching 10 years of garbage hit the big screen, this movie is a breath of fresh air. No propaganda, no politics. It's just a movie about a man and his convictions. Mel even managed to make Christianity be a fairly large part of it, yet never once did I feel like it was being pushed on me. I can't think of one movie that has come out in the past 10 years that does what this movie did. I just can't.

Mel Gibson gets way too much hate. If there was a camera and a microphone on all of us at our worst moments, then you'd realise that what Mel did actually wasn't that *BAD*. Which is sad b/c I feel that he paid for that mistake - they have actors who have done much worse than Mel yet they were forgiven. I think Mel was never part of the "Hollywood clique" and b/4 that incident he still did the films on his own and his terms - that is why his films are so magnificent b/c Mel Gibson NEVER "played the Hollywood game" and he was always considered an outsider b/c of his "politics". This movie he recently made is "out the park amazing" and deserves a nomination - he should win too! LOVE U MEL, ALWAYS HAVE LOVED U - LOVE DENZEL AS WELL B/C HE DOESN'T TAKE ANY CRAP FROM HOLLYWOOD EITHER.

I stopped listening and watching MSM decades ago, yet I hear their still at it when great men and women come forth with their incredible gifts, they try their hardest to destroy them. For me Mel is an incredible human with incredible gifts, he captures true reality in his storytelling, non of this Disney fakery. For the most, unless one is a child, people want and need truth, the truth brings out the best in humanity. It's true I am a fan of Mel and in my eye's he's still an extreamly handsome man, he ages like fine wine. Yet regardless of my fan-ness, above and beyond my crush, I see him first and foremost as an incredible actor and a vastly talented Director/producer.
