Why does there have to be constant debate about Iced Earth singers? They have had five you know. Each has their own style and strengths. Just look at the list of members this band has had it looks like an nhl teams preseason roster. What I am trying to say is just relax and enjoy the greatness that is Iced Earth.

I agree with you. Matt Barlow left the band two times. What was John Schaffer suppose to do end the the band. No as long as John Schaffer is in the band , Iced Earth will carry on. I love every era this band has. Alot of fans hate the singer from the debut album, but in my opinion his vocals fit the songs perfectly. John Greely on Night Of The Stormrider did an amazing job. The Matt Barlow era really is amazing. I love all the albums from Burnt Offerings all the way to Horror Show big time. I love both albums that Tim Owens sung on especially The Glorious Burden. I love all three albums that Stu Block has sung on especially Dystopia and Incorruptible. I actually love listening to Live In Ancient Kourion as much as I love listening to Alive In Athens. This band will always be amazing to me as long as John Schaffer is in the band.

I love the Matt Barlow era Iced Earth big time, but Stu Block is amazing also. I love listening to Live In Ancient Kourion just as much as I do Alive In Athens. I love the three studio albums Stu has done especially Dystopia and Incorruptible. I also love the Gene Adams era, John Greely era, and Tim Owens era also. The one common factor in all these eras is John Schaffer. John Schaffer is the main songwriter and Iced Earth has been his baby since day one. As long as John Schaffer is in Iced Earth, it will always be an amazing band.

Ive seen Matt live, Tim live, and Stu live. Matt was fantastic, couldn't do Owens material, didn't have the range, Tim was fantastic, couldn't do Matt's lows very well, just didn't have the pitch. You put Stu into either of their material he does both with ease. You guys can piss and moan about Matt not being here, yeah, I get you. It's Matt....But he is gone, get over it. You have plenty of material, you can go listen to plus Ashes of Ares. I was really hesitant to get on board with Stu, he is a good front-man though, gets the crowd going, has good control, hasn't really butchered any songs (If anyone says well, he sounded like shit at "this festival," fuck off, festivals always sound like shit unless its the top 3 acts, the sound board is always a mess, I can show you all kinds of bands that normally sound amazing that sound like shit at a festival for said reason.) I realize people fear change. Stop thinking about it, enjoy the fact that they are releasing music and not just sitting on their thumbs writing the next Chinese Democracy, Instead of bitching go find a new band to obsess about, it's not like there aren't a metric ton of bands in this Genre. End rant. Go play in traffic now.

Amen. I'd also say that Tim didn't quite have the emotion to handle the softer stuff. Stu has done a great job of combining the best of all IE singers. Plus, his version of Dracula just might be the definitive version.

Wow! Brent Smedley killed on the drums here :) I miss him in the band -such an incredible drummer :/ I don't know why people hate Stu, because even though he isn't Matt Barlow, he has a unique voice, and an impressive high register. I loved Barlow's voice, but he was clearly losing his voice during his last periode with Iced Earth - Probably due to the extensive touring. I am giving Stu a chance here, and I think everyone else should do the same

Hey Iced Earth is a killer band. Period. Their style is this...that..and dee odah ding..who cares about all this labeling? They always emerge with different singers and keep slamming it.Uh...well, until now.I guess promotion and record company isn't supportive of them since you-know-who showed up at the you-know-where.I hate their situation they are in now but dang.Jimi overdosed, Randy,plane crash, Dime,shot on stage.Iced Earth? It is very difficult to sing the same songs that were established with Matt's voice. Matt might was less technical than Stu or from Ripper but he had much more emotion in his voice. In general Matt's voice was more full and bassy and he could sing high pretty well, actually I loved the highs of Matt because even when high his voice was so full. In any case my second favorite singer of IE is Stu. But the 'real' I.E. is Matt fucking Barlow!!

Stu Block is awesome!!! I understand that fans miss Matt Barlow, but he left the band two times. As much as I love Matt's singing I don't think he should ever be in the band again. Stu has been doing an amazing job and I really love the three studio albums he has already done, especially Dystopia and Incorruptible. I actually love listening to Live In Ancient Kourion as much as I love listening to Alive In Athens. Matt Barlow will always be the classic singer for Iced Earth, but Stu in my opinion was the perfect replacement.
