I sooo love this! I needed this chile! Thank you for sharing your story. Breastfeeding was definitely a struggle for me and I felt defeated at first when it just wasn't working out for us and I had to supplement. I still continued to breastfeed, but then ran into other issues...mastitis and it was absolutely awfuuul. I just couldn't take it anymore! I am glad I got to breastfeed her for the amount of time that I did. I salute all the moms that breastfeed, but I definitely don't knock the ones who don't. You are so right...it's not the end of the world and we shouldn't feel that way if it doesn't work out for us. I wasn't breastfed either xoxo Keep sharing your stories, you're amazing

I knew it was time to stop breastfeeding when my son pointed to my right breast & said this one gives more milk then that one (left breast). Um yeah, that was it for him. Plus he was going on three years old. You are doing a great job. I wish I had these vlogs when I had my children. You are so awesome.

It is so true, there's so much pressure to breastfeed nowadays. I did also attend breastfeeding workshops during pregnancy and was convinced that would be the only way to feed my baby. No one really tells you how different it's is for each mom though...My milk did take time to come in and had to supplement w formula, in the meantime my baby got so used to it that one day just he didn't want to be breast fed and clearly preferred formula. As a mom you can't help but think where you did go wrong and feeling guilty for not being able to breastfeed. It did take me awhile to realize exactly what you said that it doesn't really matter as long as your baby is happy and healthy. Thank you again for sharing, Looking forward to your next blog! Xx

This. This video is needed. I have breastfed all three of my girls for about 3 months but had to stop because I had to start taking my seizure meds again. Through out my pregnancies I refused to take my meds because of possible risks to the babies. I felt terrible about not breastfeeding longer, but they are now 12, 9,and 7 and doing just fine! Beautiful girls and are smart and creative people.

Great video and very encouraging Melanie. I have three children and had c-section with all of them. My first two were formula fed and my last one I was able to breast feed. I breast fed her for two years and five months. As women we have to continue to encourage each other no matter which way we choose to feed our children. Thank you

Pumping is not an indication of how much milk your breast are producing. If you decide to supplement, you must stimulate your breast by pumping otherwise your supply will decrease. If you are struggling especially early on, please please please see a lactation consultant preferably an international board certified lactation consultant. Women are not failures for struggling to breast feed. Our healthcare system has failed them. There is not enough support for women in the area of lactation.

Thank you so much for sharing your journey from labor to breast feeding. I'm one month postpartum and I'm struggling with producing milk. I was doing good at first even had a stash and then after 2 wks i noticed my baby was still hungry. I've considered formula but I'm so determined to make breast feeding work so I've been pumping extra hard and my baby eats almost 3to4 oz so I breast feed as much and give her breast milk through bottle to finish. But I've cried so many nights and this vlog made me feel so much better about the pressure I've been giving myself about breast feeding and formula. Nice to know I'm not alone. Side note: she loves when I sing "Johnny" to her when she gets uneasy

Thanks for sharing and being so honest. As a new mom of a 3 month old baby girl, I had to supplement when I went back to work in order to keep up with her appetite. I had the preeclampsia, the emergency scary c-section. My milk came in late and it wasn't enough. I was supplementing by day 5. Lord, I had a uti and I needed to have two teeth removed within a month of giving birth. I just quit bc I was on so many meds I didnt want to expose my LO to that. So now Im thinking about relactation. I appreciate your testimony. I cried for weeks about the breast feeding and my crazy birth experience. I know now that Im not the only one going through these emotions. Thanks. I have a beautiful baby boy thats healthy and happy that's what matters.

When I had my daughter It felt like other moms would silently judge me for not breastfeeding. I use to constantly have to defend my choice to formula feed. I wanted too breastfeed so badly but My milk wasn't coming in at all after my C-section, and my daughter lost a pound! in the first 7 days after birth. Once I made peace with the fact that i was feeding her even if it wasn't from the breast things were a lot smoother. I no longer cared that I was being judged. I made sure to compare labels and ingredients then watched how my daughter reacted to the formula. Like you said. Feeding your baby is what's best!

Initial weight loss is perfectly normal even with a good breastfeeding start. One pound in the first week is not necessarily unusual, depending on the birth weight. In the first few days, the so-called collostrum is still being formed, which contains hardly any fat. Get to grips with the basics.

I researched sooooo much about breastfeeding during pregnancy, and my experience was so different. I was expecting this "engorgement" my mother and every other mother and lactation consultant told me about. Although i could produce some drops of milk. I never felt engorgement! I was waiting waiting waiting and weeks later nada. I offered the breast every two hours logged minutes on apps etc. i supplemented for 2 weeks while offering the breast and constantly pumping trying to "get my milk to come in" in hospital she lost more than 10% off her birth weight. I Tried fenugreek, mothers milk tea yadda yadda waiting for this engorgement then she began to gain weight and i realized even without engorgement she was getting what she needed! I nursed and pumped (at work) for 15 months! So proud of my mini

orange juice made my milk come in, my grandmother told me to drink some.. It was late coming in too and I was elated when it did. fenugreek also will work for letting it come in or increasing supply. I used the fenugreek when I had to go a week without nursing and my supply went down. It worked really quickly.

People spend too much time WORRYING instead of spending time knowing your body is going what it's suppose to do. As difficult as it is. Nursing every hour is normal it's to help increase the milk by the stimulation. I'm still nursing a 15m preemie baby. My postpartum hit me hard because of my child being premature but dedication is key after 2 months I had over 1000oz. I didn't let the concern of not having enough milk become an issue. Just stressing over that will decrease your supply let alone. If you have to supplement then do so, but don't give up. !!!! It's completely worth it.

Having a good lactation consultant on hand in those early days can also shape the type of nursing experience you will have. Someone to give you tips on the correct latch (which doesn't hurt) and giving you extra support from a pro in those early days when you're not sure what's going on as a first time mom.

I don't get why people feel like breastfeeding is an all or nothing thing. If you can do only once a day then great. If you can do is 6 times a day for 2 years that's great too! I'm so so so happy that I'm able to breastfeed my 10 month old twins but honestly for my family it was more for financial reasons that I wanted to breastfeed.

I don't know if you were told this but if you nurse him when he is hungry you will produce the amount of milk needed to fill him up. supply and demand. plus if you pump after you nurse that also helps increase your supply. I nursed until he was no longer interested. what I mean is if we sat down for a feeding and he was more interested in TV, I assumed he was not that hungry. anyway he was a 1yr old by then. bottle less to produce more milk. I hope that helps

Breastfeeding is one of THEEEE most rigorous things a woman can push through after pregnancy. My LO did well the first 2 days, and after it was severely hard! I had backup sample packs of formula (GentleEase), which I used for 2 days, and cried my eyes out because I felt like a failure. I had a vaginal delivery, but my milk didn't seem to flow alot until a week or more. Then became the issue of my LO not latching. I immediately contacted a lactation consultant, and I took weeks of practice for her to learn the correct way for her to feed. So I became a "pumper/breastfeeder". Then after came the issue of closed milk ducts. I went to the ER and not one doctor knew what to do, and even gave me the wrongs meds. I went through a week or more of hell trying to get my breast to unclog and it became a nightmare. My mom pleaded with me to stop because I was literally leaking puss from my breast. BUT I keep pumping through the pain, (throwing it away of course) and months later she's the best nurser! But I still compensate with gentle ease as she seems to like it. And I'm pumping 10oz or more even after she feeds!

I had a c-section as well with complications due to pre-eclampsia and my milk came in by the second day. Unfortunately I wasn't able to breastfeed till almost 2weeks later (baby and I were hospitalized). During that time LO was fed formula. Felt like a failure. I was too weak to even pump milk. Pumped the day I was discharged but ended back up in hospital a few days later. When I finally made it home, I tried breastfeeding and it was a struggle but I was determined. Didn't know if baby would like the taste as well. But his pediatrician encouraged me to start cutting back on some of the formula feedings and eventually baby weaned himself off lol. So, everyone is different and I honestly didn't wanna give in to the formula feedings. We're at the 6mth mark and I'm proud to have made it this far with all the challenges we faced :) Some people also forget that within those first few days if baby's life, they do not feed much and this is why docs allow the little"drop" in weight until baby is a little older.

I swear your baby videos are deja vue for me! Were you spying on me?!?!?!? And my advice is get all the kisses you can because I have to bargain and bribe for my "Baby Time" with my 4 year old. TIME FLIES when you're having fun!!!

This was a great video! I am the mother of twins and while I was pregnant I just knew I wasn't going to breastfeed I mean I was just not interested. But I was young only 20 so I wasn't educated about the benefits of breastfeeding. But when I had them 7 weeks premature and I saw them for the first time I knew I would breastfeed them. ☺️ I don't know it was like when I looked at them that's what I felt like was the right decision for me. But they were in the hospital for 3 weeks so I had to pump and bring their milk up to the hospital daily so they never really got comfortable latching on which was ok with me as long as they got my milk. And I ended up nursing them until they were 1 years old! I had such an abundant milk supply that other mommies in the NICU would as what am I doing and honestly I don't know I just tried to eat right drink lots of water and fruit juice. And that's it. 😊

Who are you? I stumbled upon your videos and I absolutely love you! You are so right on! My breastfeeding journey was crazy and I love that I could finally feed my son directly from my breast after 5 months of committed exclusive pumping. Breast is best, but you are so right, it does not always go as planned. :)*hugss*

This is a message for all new moms! DO NOT lay your baby down for to long on their back because it could cause a condition called "flat head" you can bring this up to your baby pediatrician! DONT put them on their stomach because you want to prevent sudden infant death syndrome (sids) but you want to do yummy time and have them up through out the day instead of laying for hours on their back!

Had my baby girl in March and she didn't latch at all. I got tired of pumping and switched to formula, i wanted to breastfeed but it didn't work out, the only thing that matter is a happy, healthy baby :)

I'm 7 months pregnant now and I plan on breastfeeding but I have nipples scarring from piercings and my doctor said there might be an issue with feeding. Can you please share the type of formula you used just in case I'm not able to breastfeed?

Hello! Melanie my name is Kya I'm 29 year old mother and you inspired me to share my story about breastfeeding I gave birth naturally but because I had pre-eclampsia my daughter was taken 6 weeks early so my milk didn't come in right away this was my first and still only child and was only 20 years old when I had her so it safe to say it was a lot of cry both ways lol 😂it took only 24 hours for my milk to come and my baby latched on the first time perfectly but I have large breast and they were all so engorged and my baby was a premature she was only 5lbs 5oz one of my boos was bigger than her hole body the first time I over feed her and one time I was eating while she was feeding and dropped my boob on my baby's face lol😂😂 it took about 2 months but Zia and I got it together I chose to breastfeed because my child was not only premature but she had a genetic blood disorder Samosa the first year of her life was traveling there for both of us but now she is one of the healthiest opinionated 9 year olds that I have ever seen in my entire life and I would just like to say thank you for giving women a platform to share their stories and to share motherhood I love your music I love you keep doing what you do

The more you supplement with formula, the less milk you will make. I also had a csection and my Milk came in 2 days later. I exclusively breastfed my baby for 2 years. Feed on demand. Breastfeeding is hard, but it gets easier.

I gave birth 9 weeks ago, had c section bc baby was breeched. I totally expecting to have a delay in my milk coming in but by the end of day 2 I was completely engorged...to the point where she couldnt latch anymore :-/ Lactation consultant and nurse had to help hand express and massage (very painful) but hardly anythng was coming out so we had to supplement. I felt like crap, like I was doing somethng wrong. But at the end of the day, you have to do whats best for baby in the moment. Eventually I was able to fix the issue and we have been good ever since;) Painful for 1st 6 weeks, but now we hv our rhythm!

Everyone is different, yes. You were engorged which happens to A LOT, majority or ALL women. Hurts like HELLLLL! lol but I got through it. My baby is actually 3 months now and is straight breast. She was a preemie baby and the breast milk made her chunky.

I had my baby march 7 th and i tried so hard to breast feed. First my baby had a hard time latching on to breast second my milk didn't come in until 2 week and when it did i never produce much so i had to supplement with formula. three only to 5i find out my baby has a tongue tie and could latch until her tongue was clipped. So after months of giving my baby what i could pump my dry up. so now she completely formula fed. i took some time not to feel guilty for not being able to breast feed

breastfeeding is the best for you and your baby, it helps you loose weight, but be careful, you can gain weight if you eat more like i did lol.... it made me more hungrier; but i lost it after working out hard for 1 1/2 hour 5 days a week..... all the stuff that women go through... we have to start be treated the best in society.... we do the hardest job ...... i breastfed only for 4 months & continued with a mix of food for another 4 months, to a total of 8 months, i tried for 1 year though, but my daughter stopped wanting breast-milk at 8 months, she would turn her head away lol
