Yarn content creators do us such a fantastic service...I remember the old days when finding a new pattern meant a trip to the library, the craft or fabric store, or a hand-written pattern from friends or family. RIP Ms. Melanie Ham from one of many fans who miss you very much. I wish I personally knew the family so I could give her children a hug and help her husband in some way. I didn't have enough of my yellow yarn to do the center of the flower, so instead I changed up the colors a bit - white, soft purple (basically a lilac) for the flower and then a medium grey, with an additional white around. It still looks very nice, although maybe next time I'll try using a shade of green around the flower instead of the grey, to make it look like leaves or something. Either way, I love this design so thank you for sharing it with us! I'll be making a bunch of these to turn into a project of some sort. Currently not sure what, but perhaps a bag or a baby blanket for my niece.

Since it might be helpful, I tried doing a second row of the background color, following the pattern for the first row and it looked pretty good. So this is the pattern: - ch 5, 3dc in the first ch 2 space (this will be the last corner) - 3 dc in the next two ch 2 spaces - 3dc in the next ch 2 space, ch 2, 3 dc in the same ch 2 space (this is for the corner) You repeat those steps until you reach the final corner, you do 2 dc then a slip stitch into the 3rd chain of the initial ch 5 and then just fasten off. Hope this helps :)

This is how I made round two of this square: After finishing round 1, do not cut and tie yarn. Instead, slip stitch into the next stitch (first of the chain two space from the background corner) chain 5 (this will be one double crochet + ch 2 space), dc 3 dc 3 into next space x 2 ( twice because you now have 2 empty ch2 spaces between corners) dc 3 into next space, ch 2, dc 3 in same stitch (this is the corner) repeat similar to round 1, dc 3 in next space x2, do corner, for all sides after last dc 3 before the corner, dc 2 into beginning ch 2 space, slip stitch into 3rd chain of the beginning chain 5 feel free to ask any questions :)

❤thank you to her wonderful loved ones that are honoring her legacy by letting this channel remain accessible to us all so we can learn from the amazingly talented, gifted and creative teaching style that this beautiful woman had shared with everyone here and those who will someday be here to also learn from her and continue to make such lovely creations all because of her hard work, compassion and dedication to her art. She has a special place in my heart and even moreso now that I see she's now an Angel above and the things I've learned along my own personal journey were made while she herself was dealing with such a difficult one herself and yet her light, positivity and radiance was so abundant that you would never even realize it, and to see how she didn't make it a point of reference for any reason at first made me a bit sad, but as it sank in... it made me more amazed at how much she had been such a great inspiration to not just us, but to her own family friends and the ones who knew her outside this arena. It's so easy to take extended breaks, etc and then have an absolutely valid explanation of your health being the reason for this and honestly you'd be given so much support from this community no doubt... yet, she didn't want to make this about anything other than the beautiful work she obviously enjoyed sharing and we're so very grateful to you Melanie for all these precious hours you gifted to us all over the course of your courageous battle and we will aways remember to put a little bit of your zest for life into our own designs that your imagination inspired us to create for so many gifts, projects and heirlooms that will be here even when we're high in the heavens above ourselves! So many thank yous, smiles and hugs to you, yours and to all the wonderful people here who share this common thread!
